Trick or treat? This Massachusetts lottery player got all treats on Halloween.
The player claimed a $1 million prize Friday from the game “$25,000,000 Mega Money.” The ticket was purchased at Gulf Mart in Sunderland.
The $50 lottery ticket was released in May by the Massachusetts State Lottery, with a top grand prize of $25 million.
The new scratch ticket game is the Massachusetts Lottery’s third installment of a $50 ticket since its highly-successful “Billion Dollar Extravaganza” game released in 2023.
Besides the massive top prize, the game has the “best odds of winning $50,000″ on any of the Lottery’s three $50 scratch ticket games, according to the lottery.
All winning “$25,000,000 Mega Money” tickets will be worth at least double what the player paid for the ticket, and non-winning tickets can be entered into each of the 10 Second Chance Drawings to win up to $50,000.
On Friday, there were at least 51 winning tickets claimed from the game. This included two $20,000 prizes, four $10,000 prizes and seven $5,000 prizes.
Nobody has claimed one of the three possible $25,000,000 winners. The odds are 1 in 8,400,000. There are also still 10 remaining $1 million prizes, which have odds of 1 in 2,100,000.
Overall, at least 560 prizes worth $600 or more were won or claimed in Massachusetts on Friday, including 20 in Springfield, 26 in Worcester and 41 in Boston.
The Massachusetts State Lottery releases a full list of winning tickets every day. The list only includes winning tickets worth more than $600.
The two largest lottery prizes won so far in 2025 were each worth $15 million. One of the prizes was from a winning “Diamond Deluxe” scratch ticket sold in Holyoke, and the other was from a “300X” scratch ticket sold on Cape Cod.
