A convenience store in Union City, Hudson County, sold the winning ticket for the $90 million Mega Millions jackpot on December 2, 2025. The ticket matched the numbers 17, 25, 26, 53, 60, and the Mega Ball 16.
The store, named Garden State News and located at 4024 Bergenline Avenue, identified the winning ticket, earning store owner Krish Patel a $30,000 bonus. If the winner opts for a cash payout, the amount would be nearly $41.99 million before taxes.
Patel, who has owned the store since 2014, learned of the win early Wednesday morning and expressed excitement for the winner and the broader community. He stated, “It’s great for the player, for us, and the community.
Now, we’re one of the lucky stores, too.” The announcement drew attention from local officials, including Union City Council member Maryuri Martinetti. Notably, this latest win adds to the excitement in Bergenline Avenue, a location that has seen nine lottery wins this year alone, four of which were at Bergenline shops.
The New Jersey Lottery Director, James Carey, highlighted the significance of retailers in the lottery business, calling them the “heart and soul” of the industry.
For this particular drawing, New Jersey witnessed nearly $5 million in Mega Millions sales, contributing over $2 million to support the public employee pension fund. This win marks New Jersey’s 26th Mega Millions jackpot since the game’s inception.
The recent win in Union City comes shortly after a Georgia player claimed a staggering $983 million prize on November 14. The next Mega Millions drawing is set to start at $50 million on Friday, sustaining Union City’s reputation as one of New Jersey’s luckiest lottery locations.
