$980 Million Mega Millions ticket sold in Newnan sets new Georgia record – Savannah Morning News

A Mega Millions ticket sold in Newnan has won a jackpot worth an estimated $980 million, the largest lottery prize in Georgia history.
According to the Georgia Lottery, the single winning ticket matched all six numbers drawn Friday night. The cash option for the jackpot is valued at $452.2 million.
The ticket was sold at a Publix located at 4000 N. Highway 29. The store will receive a $50,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket, an incentive for retailers whose customers hit a Mega Millions jackpot.
The winning numbers for the Nov. 14 drawing were 1, 8, 11, 12, 57, with the Mega Ball 7.
This jackpot surpasses the state’s previous record, set in October 2024 when a Powerball ticket sold in Buford won a $478.2 million prize. That jackpot was split between two winners who chose a combined cash payout of $230.6 million.
Players have 180 days from the draw date to claim their winnings. Mega Millions tickets cost $5 per play in Georgia and can be purchased in stores statewide or through the Georgia Lottery’s app and website for eligible residents.
Mega Millions drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m.
Since its creation, the Georgia Lottery has contributed more than $29.8 billion to education programs, including the HOPE Scholarship and Georgia’s statewide Pre-K program. More than 2.25 million students have received HOPE funding, and more than 2.2 million children have attended state-funded prekindergarten.
