With Halloween approaching, the Etowah County Sheriff's Office is emphasizing safety for families planning to trick-or-treat.
Sheriff Jonathon Horton shared several safety tips, including having an adult accompany young children, sticking to well-lit neighborhoods, using sidewalks, carrying flashlights or glow sticks and checking all candy before consumption. Drivers are urged to slow down and watch for children crossing streets.
Additionally, the community is invited to the annual Trunk or Treat event this Friday at 6 p.m. at The Venue in Gadsden. The event offers a safe and enjoyable Halloween experience, allowing families to meet deputies and community partners. "We look forward to seeing everyone there," said Horton. "Let's make this Halloween a safe and memorable one for all!"
