The ticket was purchased for a drawing that featured a jackpot of over $155 million, which eventually grew to $256 million. A winner hit that jackpot on Dec. 7, 2024, with a ticket sold in New York.<br>If the winner doesn&rsquo;t come forward in time, the expired prize money will go back to the state for distribution to Massachusetts&rsquo; 351 cities and towns, according to lottery officials.<br>Lottery winners can claim prizes of up to $103,000 at Lottery claim centers in Braintree, Dorchester, Lawrence, New Bedford, West Springfield, and Worcester.<br>Powerball drawings take place three times a week &mdash; on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Each play costs $2. Players choose five numbers from 1 to 69, along with one Powerball number from 1 to 26.
