A New York Lottery player has claimed a doubled prize worth $2 million for matching the first five numbers in a Powerball drawing and using a Powerplay option, according to lottery officials.
Patricia Mandarino of East Amherst, New York, matched the numbers on June 19, with a ticket purchased at 7-Eleven, located at 8000 Main St. in Williamsville.
Mandarino also chose to add the optional $1 Powerplay feature, which allows players to multiply a non-jackpot prize up to 10 times and automatically doubles the $1,000,000 second prize.
The winning numbers were: 4, 27, 44, 50, 64 and Powerball 7.
Mandarino opted to receive a single lump-sum payment of $1,302,000, after required withholdings.
The winning numbers for the Powerball game are drawn from a field of one to 69. The Powerball number is drawn from a separate field of one to 26. In order to win the jackpot, players must match all five white balls in any order and the red Powerball number.
Powerball tickets can be purchased at any New York Lottery retailer for $2, seven days a week. The deadline for purchasing a ticket is 10 p.m. on draw nights.
Drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 11 p.m., and the New York Lottery urges players to buy tickets early to avoid last-minute lines.
