PAYSON – Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes visited the Payson Town Hall on Sept. 11 to talk to older adults and caregivers about elder scams.
The FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) reported that in 2024, over 147,000 older adults were victims of scams, resulting in losses totaling almost $4.9 billion. IC3 reported a 43% increase in losses in 2023. The average loss per older adult in 2024 was $83,000.
