A self-described “semi-retired” man, who has played the lottery for several years, has won a £1 million jackpot, it was revealed yesterday.
The man, from Reading, scooped the EuroMillions Millionaire Maker top prize in a draw in May this year, after buying a ticket at a local shop.
He said his success was “fantastic news”, adding that he planned to celebrate “with a nice meal”.
“I checked my ticket on the app and was shocked when I saw that I had won the Millionaire Maker prize.”

For those who bought their tickets online, prizes up to £30,000 can be claimed directly through the lottery’s website, while larger winnings require a phone claim.
If the ticket was purchased in-store, prizes up to £500 can be collected in person, but any amount above that must be claimed by submitting a formal claim form.

Once the EuroMillions reaches the eyewatering sum of €250 million, roughly £208 million, the jackpot hits its cap.
If nobody wins the jackpot tonight, the prize pot will remain the same for the next three draws.
If it remains unclaimed, the fifth draw will see the prize pot won.
In June, a Jackpot winning ticket was purchased in Ireland and they walked away with £213,650,000.
