Players across the UK have been eagerly waiting to see if they'll strike it lucky in tonight's £8.4 million Lotto rollover draw. The Thunderball draw also took place this evening, offering a top prize of £500,000.
The National Lottery Lotto numbers were drawn at 8pm, followed shortly after by the Thunderball results. There was some confusion over the Lotto numbers; despite the live feed starting as normal, it seemed to have glitched and the numbers were not read out.
Some of the biggest Lotto wins in history include an anonymous £35 million jackpot claimed in April, 2016, and two players who shared £66 million in January, 2016. Going back even further, January, 1996, saw a £42 million jackpot divided between three ticket-holders, each receiving £14 million, while a New Year’s Eve draw in 2016 created a single £26.4 million winner.
The UK National Lottery has been running since November 19, 1994. Of every pound spent, around 50% goes to the prize fund, 28% supports good causes, 12% goes to the Government in duty, and 10% is shared between retailers and the operator.
The results will appear here as the draw takes place:
