A Powerball ticket worth $1 million was purchased in New Jersey for Wednesday’s lottery drawing.
New Jersey Lottery officials will disclose where the ticket was sold later Thursday. The second-prize ticket matched five numbers but not the Powerball.
Wednesday’s winning numbers were: 29, 39, 43, 51 and 65. The Powerball drawn was 23 with a Power Play of 2X.
There was also a $1 million, second-prize ticket purchased in Virginia.
No one across the country hit Wednesday’s $516 million jackpot, pushing the top prize for the next drawing Saturday to an estimated $546 million with a cash option of $255 million.
The odds of hitting the Powerball jackpot are more than 292 million to 1. A player who buys a $2 ticket has about a 1 in 11,688,053 chance to match five numbers (but not the Powerball) and win a second prize of at least $1 million.
Powerball drawings are held each Monday, Wednesday and Saturday in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Friday’s Mega Millions jackpot is valued at an estimated $965 million with a cash option of $445.3 million.
