A ticket sold Georgia matched all six numbers in the latest drawing of the multi-state Mega Millions lottery Friday, claiming one of the largest prizes in the game’s history.
The $980 million prize went to a ticket with the numbers 1, 8, 11, 12 and 57 with a powerball number of 7. Another three tickets matching the first five numbers were sold in Michigan, paying out $3 million each.

Friday’s drawing was the 40th since a ticket with all six winning numbers was sold. There have been at least one billion dollar jackpot. It was the highest jackpot paid won since a ticket worth over $1.2 billion was sold last December.
The odds of matching all five numbers and the Mega number is 1 in 290,472,336, according to the Mega Millions Consortium, which conducts the game. The overall chance of winning a prize is 1 in 23.
