$3 million Mega Millions winner sold at Michigan gas station – MLive.com

LANSING, MI — A Mega Millions player in Michigan was one number away from winning the grand prize, but still landed a $3 million prize over the weekend. The winner matched all five white numbers drawn — 1-8-11-12-57 — in the Nov. 14 drawing to win $1 million.
Because every set of Mega Millions numbers automatically has a prize multiplier attached to it, the win was increased to $3 million as that set’s multiplier was 3X.
The winning ticket was sold at the Marathon gas station located at 4421 W Centre Ave, Portage, roughly 10 miles south of Kalamazoo.
The winner has one year from the drawing date to contact the Michigan Lottery’s Player Relations division at 1-844-917-6325 to claim the prize. The prize must be claimed at Lottery headquarters in Lansing.
“The Mega Millions jackpot run brought excitement to Michiganders everywhere, especially the lucky player who won $3 million in Friday night’s drawing,” said Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli. “In all, players in Michigan won nearly $14 million in prizes during the jackpot run.”
While a $3 million prize was won in Michigan, a player in Georgia was the lone winner of the $980 million jackpot.

The last players from Michigan to win a Mega Millions or Powerball jackpot is the Breakfast Club lottery club which claimed a $842 million jackpot in June 2024. The members plan to use the money to buy a home in Florida and travel.
And while they were lucky winners, it’s smart for players to check their tickets immediately as a Powerball winner worth $250,000 sold in Bloomfield Hills in 2024 went unclaimed. That money went to the state’s School Aid Fund.
