CANNELTON — A beloved Cannelton tradition continues to thrive as St. Michael’s Church sold out of bingo cards at its annual Turkey Bingo, an event that has brought families, friends and neighbors together for more than 80 years.
The parish hall filled quickly Sunday afternoon as players lined up well before the first game began, eager to claim their chance at turkeys, money and other holiday prizes. Volunteers said the turnout was “one of the biggest in recent memory,” with every available bingo card sold before the halfway point of the event.
St. Michael’s Turkey Bingo dates back to the early 1940s, originally created as a small parish fundraiser leading into the Thanksgiving season. Over the decades, it has evolved into a cherished Cannelton tradition, one that blends friendly competition, hearty laughter and the spirit of giving.
Funds raised from the event support St. Michael’s Church and its outreach efforts throughout the community. Organizers expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support and for the volunteers who spent weeks preparing.
