A Wyandotte woman used artificial intelligence to pick her Michigan Lottery numbers and ended up winning a $100,000 prize.
Tammy Carvey, 45, matched four white balls and the Powerball, 11-23-44-61-62 PB: 17 in the drawing on Sept. 6 to win $50,000. That prize was multiplied to $100,000 due to the Power Play.
“I only play Powerball when the jackpot gets up there and the jackpot was over $1 billion so I bought a ticket,” said Carvey. “I asked ChatGPT for a set of Powerball numbers and those are the numbers I played on my ticket.”

The frontline against an invasive species is widening in the state as the spotted lanternfly continues to spread in new areas.
Although harmless to people, infestation is a threat against gardens and growers across the state. Spotted lanternflies damage plants by feeding on their sap and leaves, causing long-term harm to trees and crops.
Pontiac is the first site where researchers discovered insects in the state. Spotted lanternflies are native to Eurasia.

The Michigan Court of Appeals has ruled in favor of a group of residents who filed a lawsuit against city officials over the Detroit Police Department’s use of ShotSpotter gunshot-detection technology.
The technology uses sensors to detect the sound of firearm discharge and relays the location to police.
Attorneys with the Sugar Law Center for Economic and Social Justice and the Detroit Justice Center accuse the city of violating the Community Input over Government Surveillance Ordinance when the City Council voted to extend the city’s ShotSpotter contract and to implement the technology in an expanded area in 2022.

The body of a missing boater from Florida was recovered from Lake Huron by Michigan State Police in a drowning incident.
The recovery occurred on Thursday (Oct. 16) at 1:30 p.m.
Michigan State Police said the victim was found at a depth of 55 feet, about half a mile from the initial call location, using marine sonar technology.
