After $1.787 billion Powerball win in Texas, Big's 103 gets a bonus check – The Palm Beach Post

The convenience store that sold a ticket in the $1.787 billion Powerball had quite a payday, too.
On Wednesday, Oct. 1, the Texas Lottery presented Big’s 103 in Fredericksburg with a check for $250,000 for selling one of two winning tickets in the record-setting $1.8 billion draw.
“Behind every winning ticket is a network of dedicated retailers who help make these historic moments possible,” Courtney Arbour, executive director of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, which oversees the Texas Lottery, said in a news release. “We’re thrilled to see Big’s 103 in Fredericksburg share in the excitement of this Powerball jackpot – it’s a proud moment for their team and for the Texas Lottery’s mission to support education and veterans across our state.”
On Sept. 6, two tickets matched all five numbers plus the Powerball to win the nation’s second-largest lottery prize in U.S. history. The Powerball lottery streak, which lasted through the summer, marked the 13th time in history that a lottery jackpot reached and surpassed $1 billion. The $1.8 billion Powerball winners from the Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025, Powerball lottery drawing bought their winning ticket at:
Two weeks later, the Missouri Lottery announced that state’s winner came forward to claim their $893.5 million prize, a whopping $410.3 million, before taxes. As of Thursday, Oct. 2, the Texas jackpot winner has not publicly come forward. However, after the drawing, the Texas Lottery announced the $1.8 billion Powerball winner chose the cash value − players there must select lump sum or annuity at the time of ticket purchase − and also will receive $410.3 million, specifically $410,324,470.28, before taxes.
But there’s a deadline.
Powerball and Mega Millions lottery jackpot winners have 180 days (six months) from the date of the drawing (Sept. 6, 2025) to claim their prize. In this case, the Texas winner has until March 5, 2026, to decide what to do with their share of the $1.787 billion Powerball lottery jackpot, the second-largest in U.S. history. The winner must claim the prizes in person at lottery headquarters in Austin, Texas.
The winning Powerball numbers for Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025, were 11-23-44-61-62 and the Powerball was 17.
