Brit becomes third UK EuroMillions winner to scoop massive jackpot in Friday's draw – Daily Record

Winning the lottery seems like a totally outlandish and unachievable wish for many people. But one Brit has become the third person in the UK to scoop the massive jackpot in Friday night's draw – making their dreams come true.
On Friday, October 4, the EuroMillions draw revealed the numbers 06, 12, 18, 25, 41 with the Lucky Star numbers 02 and 06. As a result, one lucky UK ticket-holder has become a multimillionaire.
One individual managed to match all the correct numbers to win the £26million jackpot. This marks the third time this year that a single UK ticket-holder has bagged the top prize, following two Brits who won the Valentine's Day jackpot and the January jackpot.
To win the EuroMillions jackpot, players must correctly choose five numbers from one to 50. In addition, they must select two Lucky Star numbers ranging from one to 12, reports the Mirror.
Andy Carter, senior winners' adviser at Allwyn, operator of The National Lottery, expressed his excitement to PA: "What a fantastic night for EuroMillions players, as a single UK ticket-holder has scooped tonight's £26M jackpot!
"That now makes it three UK EuroMillions jackpot wins so far this year, after one lucky ticket-holder won the £65 million jackpot on Valentine's Day, and another lucky UK player won the £83 million jackpot in January."
"Players are now urged to check their tickets and to give us a call if they think they are tonight's lucky winner."
The Thunderball prize draw also took place on Friday evening. The winning numbers were: 07, 16, 26, 31, 37 and the Thunderball number was 01.
The Thunderball game offers a smaller cash prize of £500,000 for players that can correctly guess five numbers ranging from one to 39. As well as the Thunderball number which is just a single guess between one and 14.
Mr Carter continued: "Playing any National Lottery game is more than just a chance to win, it's a way to contribute to something much bigger. Each week, players help generate around £30M for National Lottery-funded projects.
"With over £50 billion raised for good causes since launch, this funds hundreds of projects in every postcode area across the UK.
"From supporting the arts and sport sectors, to empowering local community groups and preserving iconic British landmarks, players' participation makes a difference every single day."
The jackpot is handed over tax-free as a lump sum, and those scooping the life-changing windfall are also given a dedicated team of winners' advisors from Allwyn to provide a range of emotional, financial and practical support following this life-altering moment.

It comes after a Scottish city was named one of the lottery-winning hotspots of the UK in a recent study to find out which areas people are most likely to become a Euromillions winner.
Becoming the third luckiest lottery winning area was Glasgow. Per 100,000 residents in Glasgow, the study found that around 12 per cent have managed to win more than a million pounds on the lottery.

Friends For Life Pet of the Week: Bingo – The Leader News

Meet adoptable Bingo, a gentle soul ready for a fresh start. (Photos courtesy of Friends For Life)

Meet adoptable Bingo, a gentle soul ready for a fresh start. (Photos courtesy of Friends For Life)
The Leader is excited to partner with local no-kill shelter Friends For Life to feature an adoptable pet every week. To view all adoptable animals, fill out an adoption application, show your support through donations or volunteering, or take a pet compatibility quiz to zero in on your very own best friend for life, please visit friends4life.org.
Name: Bingo
Age: 2 years old
Gender: Male
Bingo’s story is one that will tug at the heartstrings of anyone who hears it. This gentle pup spent the early part of his life confined to a backyard with his canine friend, never knowing the comfort of a cozy bed or the soft touch of a caring hand. But everything changed the day his incredible foster family stepped in—they saw two dogs in need and knew they had to help.
Now safe and warm in a loving foster home, Bingo is learning what it means to be part of a family, and he’s catching on quick! Though he can be a bit bashful in new environments (it’s no surprise given all he’s endured), Bingo has a bravery that is truly admirable. Through it all, Bingo remains incredibly sweet, with a heart that adores cuddles and an inspiring capacity for trust.
Bingo’s looking for a patient, kind-hearted forever home where he can continue to blossom and be admired for the resilient dog that he is. With a little time and lots of love, Bingo will show you just how grateful and devoted a rescue dog can be. Give Bingo the second chance he so deeply deserves—and let him show you the beauty of a love that was worth the wait.
Learn more about Bingo at friends4life.org/adoptable-pets/bingo-2.
