Mega Millions is once again flirting with the billion-dollar mark, with Friday’s potential jackpot at $965 million after no tickets matched all six numbers on Tuesday, lottery officials said.
Tuesday night’s numbers were 10, 13, 40, 42 and 46, with a gold Mega Ball of 1. Friday’s estimated jackpot is already the eighth largest since the game’s 2002 inception, with the seven above it topping $1 billion, Mega Millions said in a statement.
This will be a record 40th drawing for a single run, lottery officials noted, since the last time all six numbers were matched was on June 27 in Virginia, to the tune of $348 million. The anonymous winner claimed their windfall — a cool pre-tax cash option of $155.6 million — in August.
Although no one snagged the biggest prize on Tuesday, 809,030 tickets nationwide won at least something, with those winnings totaling nearly $30 million overall, the lottery office said. Three tickets that matched the five white ball numbers netted more than a million dollars each, including a lucky New Yorker who won $3 million.
Mega Millions has posted more prizes yielding higher winnings since it tweaked its formula in April and started charging $5 per ticket instead of $2. Jackpots now reset to $50 million after a big win instead of the previous $20 million, and smaller prizes offer built-in multipliers that increase winnings as much as tenfold.

Haridwar: Haridwar police have launched a QR code-based information system ahead of the Kanwar Yatra 2025 to improve pilgrimage convenience. Officials said that the QR code will serve as a one-stop platform for accessing essential services, traffic updates, and emergency contact details throughout the Yatra.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Haridwar, Parmendra Dobhal announced that the QR code will provide comprehensive digital access to all key facilities for devotees arriving in Haridwar to collect River Ganga water.
“Once scanned, this QR will redirect users to a platform where they can access critical information like direct official contact numbers, route maps, parking areas, and the layout of the fairgrounds,” added Dobhal.
With the Kanwar Yatra scheduled to begin on July 11, preparations are in full swing as the authorities anticipate a significant increase in footfall this year. Officials said that the QR will be made available at all entry points into Haridwar. They said that these codes will also be distributed across neighbouring districts, ensuring pilgrims receive necessary updates.
SSP Dobhal said, “This initiative is part of our efforts to ensure a safe, smooth and digitally empowered pilgrimage experience for all Kanwariyas. The system will include details on traffic movements, emergency helplines, hotel options, and many more to help decongest the roads and improve crowd management.”

The Mega Millions jackpot is soaring again — and it’s getting close to a billion dollars.
After no one hit all six numbers in Tuesday night’s drawing, the prize for Friday’s draw has jumped to an estimated $965 million.

It’s the eighth time in the game’s history that the jackpot has neared the billion-dollar mark, according to a news release. The last time Mega Millions reached that level was in December 2024, when a California ticket claimed $1.269 billion. Friday’s prize ranks among the largest in U.S. lottery history.

The Mega Millions jackpot has grown to $965 million with a cash option of $445.3 million.

To buy a ticket, you'll have to visit your local convenience store, gas station or grocery store.
To play, you will need to pick six numbers. Five numbers will be white balls ranging from 1 to 70. The gold Mega Ball is one number between 1 and 25.

One lucky online EuroMillions player in Dublin woke up almost €40,000 richer after matching five numbers in Tuesday night’s draw.
The winning punter scooped €37,722 in the November 11 draw. The winning numbers were: 4, 22, 32, 36, 47 and the Lucky Stars were 2 and 10.
While there was no winner of the EuroMillions jackpot worth €108,416,075, over 42,000 players in Ireland won prizes in the EuroMillions and Plus games.
Emma Monaghan, spokesperson for the National Lottery said, “What fantastic news for one of our EuroMillions players! Huge congratulations to our newest big winner. Today, we’re urging all online players to check their emails and accounts to see if they’re our latest winner.”
The National Lottery has confirmed that a notification and an email has been sent to the online player. The winner is advised to make contact with the National Lottery prize claims team on 1800 666 222 or email claims@lottery.ie to arrange the collection of your prize.
Meanwhile, a Waterford man recently claimed his EuroMillions match five and one lucky star prize worth €405,711, in the October 31 draw. The winning ticket was purchased from Mulhearns Foodstore in Kilmacthomas, Co. Waterford.
Speaking about his incredible win, he said, “I heard the news breaking the following day. But after leaving the ticket in my car over the weekend, I didn’t check it until Sunday evening. I had to scan the ticket three times to believe what I was seeing – ‘You’ve Won Big!’ I couldn’t stop smiling for hours. I was so delighted!”
Lotto players are being reminded to grab their tickets for Wednesday night’s draw, with the jackpot set to roll towards an estimated €4 million.
A Lotto spokesperson said: “Dreaming of becoming Ireland’s latest National Lottery millionaire? Tonight’s Lotto jackpot is set to roll towards an estimated €4 million.
“Players are reminded that tickets can be purchased in-store, through the National Lottery app or at www.lottery.ie ahead of the 7.45pm cut-off time for sales this evening.”
