Mega Millions jackpot soars to $900M ahead of Tuesday’s drawing. What's the cash payout? – The Gardner News

Mega Millions is now worth a whopping $900 million going into Tuesday’s drawing.
“It’s the eighth largest jackpot since the game began in 2002, and only the third time the jackpot has reached this level since the current game record of $1.602 billion was won in Florida on Aug. 8, 2023,” according to a release from Mega Millions.
In the last drawing on Nov. 7, there were 688,058 winning tickets across all prize tiers, for total nationwide winnings of more than $13.8 million, according to to the release.
November historically hasn’t been a lucky month for the Mega Millions, with no one winning a November jackpot in nearly a decade.
“It has been a while since the Mega Millions jackpot was won during November; the last time was in 2016,” a release added.
Here’s when the next drawing will happen.
The next drawing is Friday, Nov. 11 at 11 p.m.
With the jackpot being an estimated $900 million, the cash payout would be $415.3 million.
Drawings are conducted at 11 p.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays from Atlanta. You can watch them on the official Mega Millions YouTube channel.
The next drawing is Friday, Nov. 7, with a cash payout option of $391.7 million.
If no one wins, the jackpot will continue to grow.
According to the game’s website, “Players may pick six numbers from two separate pools of numbers – five different numbers from 1 to 70 (the white balls) and one number from 1 to 24 (the gold Mega Ball) – or select Easy Pick/Quick Pick. You win the jackpot by matching all six winning numbers in a drawing. In the event of multiple jackpot winners, the jackpot prize will be shared.”
There are other prizes in addition to the jackpot. The smallest prize to win is $10.
Mega Millions tickets are $5 each and can be played in 45 states, Washington D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Tickets can be purchased until 10:45 p.m. on the night of a given drawing.

Host of Merritt Island Christmas Boat Parade steps down citing last year's 'reckless' sports car boat collision – WESH

“The red car boat that stole Christmas,” is what the host of the annual Merritt Island Christmas Boat Parade called last year’s events, which it says will now go down in history.
And it’s because of that incident – a crash involving a novelty boat that looked like a red sports car – that Blue Marlin Real Estate said it will not be hosting the event this year.
“These reckless acts by a few have effected many, more than we could have imagined,” a post on the boat parade’s Facebook page says.
“As a result, there are not one, but several related legal matters that remain unsolved …
MORE: Novelty sports car boat collision leaves 3 injured at Merritt Island Boat Parade
It’s unclear if the parade will still happen. WESH 2 has reached out for details. The Facebook post says, “we’re confident that the parade will continue in some capacity.”
The novelty boat was spinning around in the canal during the annual Christmas boat parade.
“Just started having fun, doing donuts. Not like wave-wise crazy, but literally just donuts in circles.”
The driver explains in bodycam video during police response to the crash.
A witness, Terry Thorn, said he felt something was going to go wrong.
“And he was swerving very quickly around the pilings,” Thorn said.
Shortly after, witnesses said the driver of the jetcar boat lost control and went flying into another boat.
Three people were injured in the crash.
In the body camera video, a Fish and Wildlife officer can be seen checking out the damage.
The driver said he had not been drinking and was working to start a rental business for that boat.
He told the officer he didn’t see the other boat coming.
“They didn’t have any lights on so unfortunately I didn’t see them and went right into them,” the driver said.
