MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A Myrtle Beach man won half a million dollars on a $10 scratch-off ticket the day after his birthday.
The lucky winner told South Carolina Education Lottery officials he picked a scratch-off from the Murphy Express on International Drive while out with a friend.
He took the ticket with him and asked his friend to scratch it while he was driving, when his friend started laughing.
The man pulled over to see what was happening and said he was more surprised than amused when he saw that his $10 scratch-off ticket was worth $500,000.
The winner said, “I have more opportunities now,” after winning.
The odds of winning the $500,000 prize on the My Money Maker game are 1 in 1,152,000. Four more top prizes are remaining in the game after this win.

Romeo first shot to fame nearly 25 years ago in So Solid Crew, though their glory days were short but sweet.
He was joined in the 19-member London group by stars including Oxide and NeutrinoLisa Mafia, and Asher D.

After the band ended, Romeo pursued a solo career, even having a top ten single It’s All Gravy with Christina Millian in 2002.
Romeo also finished sixth in Celebrity Big Brother in 2012.
He then took part in the show Fool Around With… Romeo, where he was locked up with four girls and had to work out which one was single.
Romeo even brought back his So Solid Crew anthem in 2013, rewriting the lyrics of 21 Seconds for insurance site Confused.com.
“I don’t think selling out comes into it,” Romeo told NME at the time.
“It’s raising awareness with young boy racers about how important and easy it is to get insured. I’m doing it for the greater cause.”
