Someone in Massachusetts won $1 million from a $10 crossword-themed scratch ticket and came forward Thursday to claim their prize.
The prize was from “$2,000,000 Diamond Cashword,” a scratch ticket game released in January.
The winner claimed their prize through the Greasy Wheel Trust of Worcester, represented by trustee Katherine Bagdis. She opted to receive the prize in the form of a one-time payment of $650,000 before taxes.

The winning ticket was sold at JD’s Variety, 259 Franklin Rd. in Fitchburg.
The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

Nobody won the grand prize Wednesday in the national Powerball lottery. There were four Match 5 winners of $1 million in California, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and South Caroline.
According to the Multi-State Lottery Association, the Powerball lottery numbers were:
7-8-15-19-28, Powerball 3, Power Play 2x.
Saturday’s Powerball jackpot will be worth $719 million ($333.3 million cash).

The New York Lottery announced the winning ticket for the April 24 drawing matched four white balls and the red Powerball. It was sold at Weis Markets, located at 160 Robinson St., in Binghamton, New York.
Winning numbers for the April 24 Powerball drawing are white balls 2, 20, 22, 26, 47 and red Powerball 21.
The winning numbers for the Powerball game are drawn from a field of one to 69. The Powerball number is drawn from a separate field of one to 26. In order to win the jackpot, players must match all five white balls in any order and the red Powerball number.
