Bourbon and Handbag Bingo returns to Crestview Jan. 25 to benefit childhood cancer research – Get The Coast

Phinley’s Phighters and The Property Group 850 are hosting their second annual bingo fundraiser on Jan. 25 at The Loft on Main Street, aiming to surpass last year’s fundraising total of $9,309.77 for childhood cancer research.
The event, scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m., will benefit the Rally Foundation, which supports research and families of childhood cancer patients across the Florida Panhandle. This year’s gathering features a Kentucky Derby theme and is limited to the first 150 guests.
“I love to see how involved the community gets and how they love the Rally Foundation,” said Kimberlie Griggs, event organizer and broker associate at The Property Group 850. “Childhood cancer research is seriously underfunded and we are able to put the spotlight on that and make a difference.”
According to the National Cancer Institute, only 4% of all government-allocated cancer research funds go toward pediatric cancer research.
The afternoon will include bingo games with designer handbags and bourbon as prizes, along with a silent auction, photo booth and shopping opportunities with local boutique vendors. Attendees can enjoy charcuterie, appetizers, a signature cocktail, and cupcakes and cookies from Sugar Muffins.
General admission tickets start at $49.87 and include food, one bingo card and one drink ticket. A ticket package with three bingo cards is available for $81.88, and VIP tables of eight are $802.15. Tickets are available on Eventbrite.
The event is held in loving memory of Phinley Kate Huisken, who died in 2022 after battling acute myeloid leukemia. She inspired the Phinley’s Phighters challenge team.
Free parking is available on Main Street, and attendees are encouraged to wear Derby Day attire. Sponsorship opportunities range from $250 to $1,000 and include various marketing benefits and event tickets.

UNION CITY, N.J. — One person in New Jersey is $90 million richer after hitting Tuesday's Mega Millions jackpot.
The winning ticket was sold at the lottery stand at Garden State News on Bergenline Avenue in Union City.
This is the eighth time since 2018 that the New Jersey Lottery has sold a Mega Millions jackpot ticket or a Powerball jackpot ticket.
"Every time I meet lottery directors from other states, they say the biggest complaint they hear is how come only people in California and New Jersey win Powerball or Mega Millions," said New Jersey Lottery Executive Director Jim Carey. "There's an awful lot of people in California buying Powerball or Mega Millions tickets and there's an awful lot of lucky people in the state of New Jersey that are buying Powerball and Mega Millions tickets."
The winner has not yet come forward, but the cash value of the ticket is $41 million.
The owner of the lottery stand will take home $30,000.
"I just found out this morning at 6:30 that we had a winner," Krish Patel, the store owner since 2014, said. "It's great for the player, for us and the community. Now, we're one of the lucky stores, too."

It’s only been five draws since November 14, when a player from Georgia won a jackpot of $983 million.
The identity of Tuesday’s winner in Union City remains unknown.

Lotto officials say if you’re holding onto that winning ticket, keep it somewhere secure. Only tell a close friend or relative, and contact a lawyer, a financial adviser and a tax accountant before coming forward to claim your prize.
