Bills Sign Veteran Wide Receiver Cooks – Post Journal

Nov 26, 2025

ORCHARD PARK — The Buffalo Bills provided Josh Allen and their inconsistent passing attack yet another veteran option by signing free agent wide receiver Brandin Cooks on Tuesday.
Cooks joins the Bills after the New Orleans Saints granted the player’s wish by waiving him last week. And his signing comes two weeks after Buffalo added veteran wideout Mecole Hardman, who landed on injured reserve because of a calf injury sustained in his Bills debut.
Cooks is in his 12th NFL season and brings a downfield threat element to a Bills passing game that has experienced difficulty pushing the ball deep this season. His signing also represents another indication of Bills general manager Brandon Beane not being content with his receivers after backing them for much of the season.
Buffalo (7-4) has dropped four of seven following a 23-19 loss at Houston on Thursday. And the five-time defending AFC East champions now trail division-leading New England (10-2) by 2 1/2 games, with the Patriots already owning a win against Buffalo this season.
Buffalo travels to play Pittsburgh (6-5) on Sunday.
Cooks has topped 1,000 yards receiving six times, the most recent in 2021 with Houston. He’s still remained productive by combining for 11 touchdowns during his two seasons in Dallas in 2023 and ’24.
At 32, Cooks was in his second stint with the Saints and requested his release after seeing limited playing time. He had 19 catches for 165 yards in 10 games on the NFL’s 26th-ranked offense.
Selected by New Orleans in the first round of the 2014 draft out of Oregon State, Cooks spent his first three NFL seasons with the Saints, and has also played for New England and the Los Angeles Rams. Overall, he has 729 catches for 9,697 yards and 60 touchdowns.
In Buffalo, he joins a wide receiver group that’s been knocked for having difficulty getting open, and has been beset by injuries and discipline issues.
The Bills top threat, tight end Dalton Kincaid, has missed the past two games with a hamstring injury. Meantime, second-year receiver Keon Coleman has been a healthy scratch the past two outings for showing up late for a team meeting.

Cain remained in the rotation during the blowout win, logging minutes for the fourth time in the Magic‘s past five games. To this point, he has offered nothing in terms of tangible production, scoring a total of just eight points during that five-game span. He can safely be left on the waiver wire in all formats.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — It’s rivalry week, a game that many Buckeye fans wait all year for. It’s also a game where a lot of money is expected to change hands by the way of sports betting.
The College of Social Work at The Ohio State University warns that college students are at a higher risk of being harmed by sports betting, including financial insecurity, damaged relationships with family and friends and diminished mental health.
10TV went to the Ohio Union to ask students about betting on “The Game.” Many students Tuesday said they don’t bet on sports at all, but some said they are frequent gamblers on sports.
“I definitely have lost more than I won, but I’d say I’ve probably won more NFL football that anything,” said Noah Ruppel.
“I’ve lost a good amount, but I’d say I’m about even,” said Chase Ponik, “I’ve been sports betting for two years, so I’m about even.”
One OSU junior, Mikey Grant, had a warning for his peers about the pitfalls of sports betting.
“It’s a dangerous route to go down. I learned that the hard way,” Grant said. “I started with sports betting and then I got into blackjack, baccarat and stuff like that.”
Grant said he got caught up in the thrill and got addicted.
“It affected my relationships, because my dad hated my gambling more than anything. My mom hated my gambling, and I would start lying, like tell them that I was clean, but I wasn’t really clean,” he said.
It wasn’t until he lost $5,000 dollars in a single weekend that it clicked that he needed to make a change. Grant said he’s a month clean now. He permanently banned himself from the betting apps to peel himself away.
He said getting away from gambling is allowing him to enjoy sports again.
“Sports were so stressful. I would go to an Ohio State game and they would win by 25, but the spread was 27 and I was still stressing,” he said. “As long as Ohio State wins, now I’m happy no matter how much they win by.”
Gov. Mike DeWine has been growing increasingly critical of sports betting in Ohio.
In an interview with the Associated Press, DeWine said, looking back, he would not have signed the law legalizing sports betting in Ohio in 2021. “Ohio shouldn’t have done it,” he was quoted as saying.
