Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills are taking on the Houston Texans on “Thursday Night Football.”
The Texans lead 23-16 in the fourth quarter. Follow our writers for updates and analysis on tonight’s game.
Share your thoughts on tonight's game with us at live@theathletic.com and be sure to check out this week’s live coverage schedule on The Athletic.
Q4 15:00 – Texans 23, Bills 16
DeMeco Ryans refuses to let up. He sends Henry To'oTo'o on a blitz, and the linebacker hits Josh Allen hard in the backfield for Houston’s fourth sack of the night as the third quarter winds down!
Just a masterclass from the Texans defense since late in the first half.
Q3 0:17 – Texans 23, Bills 16
Another impressive stand by the Bills defense in the red zone. Buffalo holds Houston to a field goal again after a turnover deep in its own territory, and this remains a one-score game.
Will Anderson Jr. has gotten a lot of the attention but Calen Bullock has been huge for Houston tonight.
He picked off a tipped pass from Josh Allen earlier and then he punched the ball out of the hands of Khalil Shakir moments ago.
The Texans' defense is living up to the hype.
Q3 3:33 – Texans 20, Bills 16
The Texans defense continues to come up with huge plays! After making a reception on third down, Khalil Shakir gets the ball punched out by Calen Bullock, and Jayden Reed recovers at the Bills’ 22-yard line!
Bills linebacker Terrel Bernard just walked back on to the field in a sling.

Q3 6:32 – Texans 20, Bills 16
After Marks exits, the Bills stuff Nick Chubb on third-and-2. The Texans will punt.
Q3 6:51 – Texans 20, Bills 16
This brutal injury stretch continues. Now, promising Texans rookie running back Woody Marks is down and then walks gingerly off the field after a short carry.
We see great D-lines pick on bad O-lines all the time in the NFL. The Texans are doing this to one of the best offensive lines in the league. Just abusing them across the board. It is wild to watch.
Q3 7:16 – Texans 20, Bills 16
Another injury timeout.
This time, it’s Bills rookie DB Maxwell Hairston who’s down on the field.
Referee Adrian Hill can't put weight on his left foot and is being helped off the field by Texans medical personnel.
Cart is coming for Hill on the Texans sideline.
Umpire Roy Ellison is putting on the white hat.

There's no question about it, Will Anderson Jr. is a gamewrecker on defense.
Per the broadcast, prior to the Bills last drive, Anderson recorded six quarterback pressures and two sacks on 13 pass rushes. He would have had three if not for the fact that his first tackle of Josh Allen was slightly behind the line of scrimmage.
Everywhere that Allen turns, he's seeing Anderson tonight and it's completely throwing off the Bills offense.
Q3 7:29 – Texans 20, Bills 16
Danielle Hunter is on the board! The other star Texans pass-rusher drags Josh Allen to the turf on third down, and the Bills punt for the second time in as many third-quarter drives.
This elite Houston Texans defense came to play on a national showcase.
Q3 9:15 – Texans 20, Bills 16
The Texans offense goes backward in a penalty-filled series and has to punt. It’s a three-and-out.
Bills linebacker and captain Terrel Bernard writhed on the field with 10:27 left in the third quarter with an apparent right arm injury and was guided off the field by medical personnel.
Bernard, a Houston-area native, has been recovering from an ankle injury suffered in Week 6 and was coming off a solid game in which he led the Bills with 11 tackles, two for losses and two pass breakups. Veteran linebacker Shaq Thompson, playing for the first time after missing three games with a hip injury, will take on a larger role the rest of the way.

Q3 10:27 – Texans 20, Bills 16
Bills linebacker Terrel Bernard is headed to the locker room.
Q3 10:27 – Texans 20, Bills 16
Another key Bills player is down.
Terrel Bernard is writhing in pain and appearing to clutch his right arm.
Tonight just keeps getting worse for Buffalo.
Q3 11:11 – Texans 20, Bills 16
Will Anderson comes back in the game and gets one of the most impressive sacks you will ever see, chasing down a scrambling Josh Allen after sliding early in the play, resulting in an 18-yard loss. Bills are forced to punt, thanks again to the star Houston defensive end.
Q3 14:04 – Texans 20, Bills 16
Josh Allen checks it down to a wide-open tight end in the middle of the field, and it results in an 18-yard gain.
Much more concerning for the Texans, Will Anderson appears to be getting evaluated for an injury on the sideline.
Q3 14:56 – Texans 20, Bills 16
Ray Davis can’t house the kickoff this time, sliding to a stop at the Bills’ 20-yard line. Josh Allen and company get the ball first to start this half.

Braehead Shopping Centre sold in possible £220m deal – BBC

The owner of Sports Direct has completed a deal to buy the Braehead Shopping Centre.
Frasers Group, which also owns the Frasers department stores, has bought the facility in Renfrew from SGS UK in a deal reported to be worth £220m.
Braehead, which opened in 1999, is home to more than 100 retailers including Ikea, Primark and Marks & Spencer and is among Scotland's busiest shopping complexes.
In a statement, Frasers Group described the acquisition as a "significant addition" to its "strong and growing portfolio".
SGS UK bought Braehead in 2020 following the collapse of its previous owner, Intu.
The firm's CEO, Claire Barbour said it had been able to "stabilise" the centre before its sale.
She added: "The sale of Braehead was always part of our strategic plan and through active management, we have delivered substantial value enhancement, attracting new brands and increasing its relevance and appeal to customers.
"We have created a strong platform from which Frasers Group can continue to drive growth, leveraging its retail expertise to further unlock Braehead's potential as one of the leading retail destinations in Scotland."
Frasers Group also owns the Overgate Centre in Dundee and in September, bought the Waterfront Retail Park in Greenock.
Frasers was previously owned by the former Rangers shareholder Mike Ashley.
It has been run by his son-in-law, Michael Murray, for the last three years and now owns high street brands including USC, Game and Evans Cycles.
Mr Murray said: "This acquisition is an important step in delivering our property ambitions and cements the group's position as a leading operator and champion of physical retail destinations while unlocking greater opportunities to serve communities with the best brands, environments and experiences possible."
Major disruption is expected to continue until the end of the day, according to Network Rail.
HMRC accused Kirsty Buchan of failing to pay more than £38,000 in tax over a 12-month period.
A committee urged the government to change the legal framework for drug consumption facilities but this was refused.
Officers are investigating the former A Milne funeral directors in Glasgow and Dumbarton.
The derelict McCorquodale's Printers building on Maxwell Street would have been replaced by a hotel.

Wizards' Marvin Bagley: Doubtful for Friday – CBS Sports

If not listed, please contact your TV provider.
Bagley is doubtful for Friday’s game against the Raptors with a right hip contusion.
Bagley produced 13 points (6-11 FG, 1-2 FT), seven rebounds, three assists, one block and three steals over 31 minutes during Wednesday’s 120-109 loss to the Timberwolves, but he walked away from the game with a hip injury. Alex Sarr (toe) is questionable, meaning the Wizards may need to rely on Tristan Vukcevic.

Steelers-Bears Preview – CBS Sports

If not listed, please contact your TV provider.
CHICAGO (AP) Aaron Rodgers once famously turned to the crowd at Soldier Field and screamed that he still owns the Bears. No one would have argued back then.
Rodgers would love a chance to show it’s still true, though it’s not clear if he’ll get the opportunity when the Pittsburgh Steelers visit Chicago on Sunday.
The four-time MVP broke his left wrist in last week’s 32-14 win over Cincinnati, throwing his status for what could be his final game against the franchise he has tortured into question.
Rodgers was optimistic but far from certain that he would be able to play through the injury to his nonthrowing hand. It depends on if he feels he can protect himself and handle the ball the way he normally does.
Either way, Rodgers said this week he hopes Bears fans can let “bygones be bygones.” And, with a laugh, he added: “Maybe, I can, I guess.”
Rodgers, as he has done in the past, praised Chicago. He mentioned growing up a fan of Michael Jordan and the Bulls and watching Cubs games on WGN.
“They got great sports, man,” he said.
Rodgers is 25-5 against Chicago, counting the playoffs. If he is unavailable, the AFC North-leading Steelers (6-4) will go with Mason Rudolph. The veteran returned to Pittsburgh for a second stint when he signed a two-year deal in March and came through after Rodgers exited last week. He completed 12 of 16 passes for 127 yards and a touchdown, helping the Steelers win for the second time in three games and keep a tenuous grip on first place ahead of Baltimore.
The NFC North-leading Bears (7-3) have won seven of eight and lead Green Bay (6-3-1) by the slimmest of margins. They have five wins this season after trailing in the final two minutes of the fourth quarter, including the past three games.
They squeezed out a 19-17 victory at Minnesota last week when Devin Duvernay returned a kickoff 56 yards to set up a 48-yard field goal by Cairo Santos as time expired. The Vikings had scored a touchdown with 50 seconds remaining.
“I think we feel good with where we’re at,” quarterback Caleb Williams said. “But you also do understand that things can turn. We have a whole season left basically with seven games left. And so, things can still turn fast in those ways.”
The Steelers are well-versed in the problems created by a team whose quarterback likes to move around. They can thank years and years of chasing Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson.
Williams, however, presents a different challenge. Where Jackson typically takes off the second he tucks the ball under his arm, the slippery Williams is more likely to scramble around in the backfield while hoping something develops downfield.
“He’s kind of like a little magician back there, being able to get out of tough jams and (he’s) got a hell of an arm,” Steelers inside linebacker Patrick Queen said. “So you definitely got to respect the guy. Even with him being young, he’s been playing at a high level.”
The Steelers can try to take solace in this: they’re 5-4 against Jackson, one of the few teams the two-time MVP has a losing record against.
A two-time All-Pro, Bears safety Kevin Byard was no stranger to picking off passes. He just hadn’t done it as much as he would have liked the past few seasons.
Byard is making up for it with a league-leading five interceptions after combining for two the previous two years with Tennessee, Philadelphia and Chicago. He had one last year in his first season with the Bears.
“I just think it’s the (opportunities),” said Byard, who has 34 interceptions in 10 seasons. “Honestly, even last year. I feel like I dropped two. I felt like I should have had multi-interceptions last year as well.”
With Nahshon Wright and Tremaine Edmunds tied for second with Jacksonville’s Devin Lloyd with four, the Bears have three of the NFL’s top four leaders in interceptions.
The Steelers signed running back Jaylen Warren to a modest extension before the season began, and while the former undrafted rookie free agent has been effective with the ball in his hands, he’s also been knocked around a bit.
Enter Kenneth Gainwell. The former Philadelphia Eagle began the season as a complementary piece but has shown a couple of things that Warren has not. He’s been durable, and he’s figured out a way to get to the end zone.
Gainwell had 105 total yards last week against the Bengals and caught two touchdown passes. The Steelers opted to roll with him late even though doctors had cleared Warren to return after tweaking his right knee in the third quarter.
Though Rodgers has dominated Chicago, the Bears have done the same against the Steelers.
They lead the series 22-8-1 and are 14-1 at home, including a pair of wins over the combined 1943 Philadelphia-Pittsburgh and 1944 Chicago Cardinals-Pittsburgh teams. The Steelers’ lone victory in Chicago was in 1995. Pittsburgh’s record against the Bears is the franchise’s worst against any NFL team still in existence.
