Updates on Sports

In our latest installment of Chris Pietsch’s Looking Back video series, we take a look at sports movies filmed in Eugene. Hayward Field has been the site of several films, and it should be no surprise many center on track and field athletes.
Not every film was a hit, and a few contained content that was considered controversial. From a Jack Nicholson-directed flop to a movie produced by Tom Cruise featuring hundreds of local extras, Eugene’s reputation as a sports-loving location has attracted several movie makers wanting to depict the ups and downs of athletics.
Watch Pietsch’s newest video below.

James (back) is aiming to make his season debut Tuesday against the Jazz, ESPN’s Shams Charania reports.
Officially, James is listed as questionable. However, the team called him a game-time decision after he made it through the morning shootaround with no setbacks. Charania notes that James is going to warm up with the intention of playing, but fantasy managers should prepare for some type of restrictions if he gets the green light.

Mitchell totaled 18 points (7-12 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 2-3 FT), three rebounds and five assists across 32 minutes during Monday’s 115-113 win over the Knicks.
Mitchell has been great offensively, scoring at least 11 points in his last five games and at least 10 in six of his last seven. On the season, he averages 10.6 points, 7.4 assists, 2.9 rebounds, 1.4 steals, 0.1 blocks and 1.2 threes made. While Tyler Herro (ankle) is slated to make his season debut in the coming weeks, Mitchell’s strong performances this season has made a case for him to still have a major spot in Miami’s rotation, although his usage will undeniably take a hit once Herro returns.
