Host of Merritt Island Christmas Boat Parade steps down citing last year's 'reckless' sports car boat collision – WESH

“The red car boat that stole Christmas,” is what the host of the annual Merritt Island Christmas Boat Parade called last year’s events, which it says will now go down in history.
And it’s because of that incident – a crash involving a novelty boat that looked like a red sports car – that Blue Marlin Real Estate said it will not be hosting the event this year.
“These reckless acts by a few have effected many, more than we could have imagined,” a post on the boat parade’s Facebook page says.
“As a result, there are not one, but several related legal matters that remain unsolved …

It’s unclear if the parade will still happen. WESH 2 has reached out for details. The Facebook post says, “we’re confident that the parade will continue in some capacity.”
The novelty boat was spinning around in the canal during the annual Christmas boat parade.
“Just started having fun, doing donuts. Not like wave-wise crazy, but literally just donuts in circles.”
The driver explains in bodycam video during police response to the crash.
A witness, Terry Thorn, said he felt something was going to go wrong.
“And he was swerving very quickly around the pilings,” Thorn said.
Shortly after, witnesses said the driver of the jetcar boat lost control and went flying into another boat.
Three people were injured in the crash.
In the body camera video, a Fish and Wildlife officer can be seen checking out the damage.
The driver said he had not been drinking and was working to start a rental business for that boat.
He told the officer he didn’t see the other boat coming.
“They didn’t have any lights on so unfortunately I didn’t see them and went right into them,” the driver said.

Kings' DeMar DeRozan: Pours in 22 points – CBS Sports

If not listed, please contact your TV provider.
DeRozan closed with 22 points (7-11 FG, 3-3 3Pt, 5-5 FT), three rebounds, two assists and one steal across 29 minutes during Sunday’s 144-117 loss to the Timberwolves.
DeRozan was a bright spot in an otherwise dreadful night for the Kings — not a single starter eclipsed 30 minutes due to the lopsided score. The Kings are off to a shaky 3-7 start, and if things don’t turn around soon, the rumor mill is likely to start churning.

Thunder's Chet Holmgren: Efficient performance in win – CBS Sports

If not listed, please contact your TV provider.
Holmgren racked up 21 points (8-14 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 4-4 FT), seven rebounds, two assists and one steal in 30 minutes during Sunday’s 114-100 victory over the Grizzlies.
The big man continues to work his way back from a lower back injury, and this was his best performance — from a statistical perspective — since suffering the injury in late October. Also, this was just the third time Holmgren has scored over 20 points in a game this season. He’s averaging 19.1 points, 8.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.3 blocks per game in seven outings in 2025-26, but his numbers should improve even further if he’s able to stay healthy and play regularly as he did before sustaining the back problem Oct. 27.

Drone soccer: FAI’s first head-to-head team sport – FAI | World Air Sports Federation

Flashing LED drones race through the air, the crowd cheers, and the referee’s whistle pierces the noise: welcome to Drone Soccer, the FAI’s first-ever team sport, a high-octane, high-tech version of football played in the sky.
In this new head-to-head discipline, players work together in fast-paced matches, just like in football or other traditional team sports.
The concept of a team isn’t new to air sports.
In disciplines such as Formation Skydiving, groups perform synchronised routines. The term is also used for national classifications derived from the individual results of athletes from the same country.
But Drone Soccer redefines what a “team” means in air sports. For the first time, two sides go head-to-head in a match format, each trying to outscore the other in real time.
Another innovation sets this new air sport apart: pilot (or player) substitutions. As in football, Drone Soccer teams can replace pilots between sets (though not during play), using their two named substitutes strategically in response to the unfolding action during the match.
Antonis Papadopoulos, President of the FAI Aeromodelling Commission (CIAM), said:
“We’re very proud to introduce a type of competition that’s completely new to air sports. With substitutions, teams face new tactical challenges. They must read the match, anticipate their opponents’ strengths, and adapt their line-up between sets. But it also means managing different personalities and flying styles within the team, finding the right balance and cohesion to outperform the other side.”

Drone Soccer is a fast-paced game of skill, strategy, and teamwork. Each side fields several drones — one of which is designated as the “striker”, easily recognisable for spectators with its distinct lights. The striker’s goal is to fly through the opponent’s hoop, a suspended ring just slightly larger than the drone itself.
While the striker attacks, the other team members defend their own goal and block opposing drones. Success depends not only on precision flying but also strong coordination  and communication between the pilots, all at lightning speed.
Teams consist of up to three players in Class B or five in Class A, each controlling their own drone from the side of the pitch. All drones are enclosed in protective spherical cages and illuminated in team colours.
Before each match, teams develop a tactical plan, assigning specific roles such as striker or defender. They also build and fine-tune their own drones within FAI technical regulations to best fit their chosen strategy.

Matches are played in three sets, each lasting three minutes.
If a set ends in a tie — whether no goals are scored or both teams are level — the outcome is decided by a penalty shoot-out: three attempts per team, where the striker has 10 seconds to fly through the goal while a defender from the opposing team tries to block the shot.
If the match remains tied after penalties, a sudden-death set begins: the first team to score wins.

Drone Soccer was created in Korea in 2016 as a way for drone pilots to enjoy the fun of a team sport. Teams and rivalries developed and the game spread until the first international competitions in 2019 when FAI classed it as an official air sport.
The inaugural Drone Soccer World Cup took place in South Korea in 2023 and the first FAI World Championships is being held in Shanghai, China from 15-18 November 2025.

Magic searches for winning process, welcomes Blazers – CBS Sports

If not listed, please contact your TV provider.
With each team looking to flush disappointing losses, the Orlando Magic host the Portland Trail Blazers in interconference play on Monday.
After Franz Wagner powered Orlando to a 13-point victory over Boston on Friday, the Magic fell 111-107 to the Celtics on Sunday. Orlando has dropped six of nine since winning its season opener.
“I like to think we stay with our process regardless of the results,” Magic head coach Jamahl Mosley said. “We don’t want to go with the highs and lows. The team understands that things happen when guys are in the right spots, when we push the pace, the stops that we need in order to get out and run. Those are process pieces and that’s what we’re continuing to do.”
Paced by Paolo Banchero’s 22.8 scoring average through 10 games, Orlando will need to see the production from its star player continue in the team’s third game in four nights.
“You can’t say enough about him and his ability to create for others,” Mosley said of Banchero, who scored 28 points on Sunday. “The draw he has every night, with guys coming at him, there are three guys coming at him each time he touches the basketball. He’s making the right play, trying to find the right read, trying to find guys spaced out to knock shots down.”
Wagner adds 22.3 ppg, followed by Desmond Bane’s 14.2.
Portland has dropped two of three, falling 136-131 at the Miami Heat in its first of a five-game road trip. The Trail Blazers have gone 5-3 since head coach Chauncey Billups was placed on leave as part of an investigation into illegal gambling on Oct. 23.
Portland forward Deni Avdija has enjoyed life under interim head coach Tiago Splitter, as the 24-year-old is averaging a team-high 25.3 points along with seven rebounds and 4.9 assists per game through nine contests.
Avdija has posted consecutive double-doubles, just missing out on his third career triple-double on Saturday, going for 33 points, 11 rebounds and eight dimes against the Heat. He had 26 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists in a 121-119 home win over the defending league champion Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday.
“I’m just trying to box out and help the guys create stops,” Avdija said of his recent rebounding surge. “At the end of the day, if the ball lands in my hands or somebody else’s, it doesn’t matter. We get the stop, get the rebound and go the other way.”
Portland, which has won 13 of 17 over Orlando since February 2017, will put an emphasis on avoiding falling behind early. Splitter’s group has trailed at halftime in three of its last four games.
“We need to start the games better,” Splitter said. “I think lately we’ve had to get punched in the face first and then wake up and start to play in the second half. That’s not enough. This league is too tough to wait for that. Hopefully, from the get-go, we are ready to play the way we want.”
Behind Avdija’s team-leading scoring clip, forward Jerami Grant has chipped in 20 points per game off the bench, while starting guard Shaedon Sharpe averages 18.4.
