Check your email! KY resident wins $2 million Powerball prize – The Courier-Journal

A Kentucky resident won $2 million Dec. 3 through an online Powerball ticket, the Kentucky Lottery confirmed in a Dec. 4 news release.
The winning ticket was purchased online at kylottery.com, according to the release. Kentucky Lottery spokesperson Terry Sebastian said it is not currently known where in Kentucky the winner purchased the ticket.
The winning numbers were 1-14-20-46-51, and the Powerball was 26. The winner was able to double their original winnings of $1 million with an additional $1 Power Play, Sebastian said.
The most recent $2 million Powerball winner in Kentucky was an Elizabethtown woman who purchased her winning ticket at a Radcliff convenience store in December 2023.
After winning more than $100,000 online, people must select “claim in person” in their online Kentucky Lottery account and claim the prize at lottery headquarters at 1011 W. Main St. in Louisville within 180 days. The Dec. 3 winner has not yet claimed their winnings, Sebastian said.
Kentucky Lottery uses proceeds to fund scholarships and grants for more than 1 million Kentucky college students, according to the release. In 2025, the Kentucky Lottery has paid out more than $1.6 billion in prizes.
The next drawing for the Powerball jackpot winner, which is currently estimated at $820 million, will take place at 11 p.m. Dec. 6.
