Check your pockets: Unclaimed $50K Powerball ticket was sold in Marlborough MA – MetroWest Daily News

Somebody bought a Powerball ticket nearly a year ago in Marlborough, and it’s worth $50,000.
But not for long.
The $50,000 winning ticket, a Quic Pic that was purchased at New Capital Farms Convenience Store at 554 Boston Post Road (Route 20), will expire on Nov. 20 if unclaimed by then, according to a community announcement.
The winning numbers for the Nov. 20, 2024, drawing were 16, 30, 60, 62, 64, with a Powerball number of 25, according to the announcement. The holder of the $50,000 ticket would have matched four of the first five numbers, along with the Powerball number.
The prize was won during a drawing that featured a jackpot of more than $155 million, which eventually increased to $256 million before being won on Dec. 7 with a ticket sold in New York.
Powerball winners in Massachusetts have one year from the date of the drawing to claim their prizes, according to the announcement. In this case, if the $50,000 prize goes unclaimed, the money would become part of the net profit that the Massachusetts Lottery returns to the Commonwealth for distribution to all 351 cities and towns.
Prizes of up to $103,000 can be claimed at any of the lottery’s claim centers. These centers are located in Braintree, Dorchester, Lawrence, New Bedford, West Springfield and Worcester.
Powerball drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. Each play costs $2. Players select five numbers from a pool of 69, plus a Powerball number between 1 and 26. There is also a Quic Pic option.
Matching only the first five numbers drawn (and not the Powerball) wins a $1 million prize.
