The New England Patriots have swept aside the New York Jets at Gillette Stadium on ‘Thursday Night Football,’ winning 27-14 for their eighth straight victory.
TreVeyon Henderson had the best game of his rookie season thus far, rushing for two touchdowns and catching a third. Drake Maye threw for 281 yards and a touchdown, and Stefon Diggs made nine catches for 105 yards.
Justin Fields had a tough night, throwing for just 116 yards and a touchdown on 15-of-26 passing. He also ran for 67 yards and another score, but accounted for the game's lone turnover with a fumble as well.
The Patriots improved to 9-2, the best record in the NFL, while the Jets fell to 2-8, ending their two-game winning streak.

Did you know our Playoff Simulator at The Athletic also gives you teams’ odds of securing the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft? So yes, Jets fans, there is something for you in there!
With tonight’s loss, New York’s odds of getting the top pick move from 27 percent to 31 percent.
Check out how those odds shift with the rest of New York’s games here.
The Jets clearly wanted to see what they had in Adonai Mitchell, as Justin Fields targeted him a team-high six times tonight.
Yet Mitchell recorded multiple drops and finished with just one 10-yard catch on New York’s opening drive.
Not a great start to hits Jets tenure. Yes, Fields struggled, but Mitchell has to help his quarterback as well.
Stefon Diggs continues to assert himself as a reliable target for Drake Maye, even if the veteran isn’t the perennial Pro Bowl-caliber player he was in his prime for division rival Buffalo.
Diggs picked a good night for his first 100+ yard receiving game since the Patriots’ last prime-time game (a win over the Bills on Oct. 5). He had nine catches for 105 yards in tonight’s victory.
What a performance tonight from Drake Maye, continuing his superb breakout sophomore season.
Maye showed total command of the Patriots offense, executing several perfectly-thrown play-action passes while also making some incredible acrobatic plays when forced to scramble from the pocket.
The Patriots quarterback finished 25-for-34 for 281 passing yards, one touchdown and no interceptions.
He was not helped by the drop issues from new receiver Adonai Mitchell, but Justin Fields did not exactly do himself any favors, either.
Fields struggled to complete downfield throws all night long, finishing with just 116 passing yards on 15-of-26 passing. He did have a touchdown pass to John Metchie III in the third quarter and ran for a touchdown in the first, along with a team-high 67 rushing yards on 11 carries, but that was about it on the Fields highlight reel tonight.
As for the lowlight reel, well…
The TreVeyon Henderson breakout is upon us!
Having fully assumed the lead running back role in New England, Henderson has five touchdowns in his last two games — including three tonight, two rushing in the first half and one receiving in the second half.
Henderson had 62 rushing yards on 19 carries and 31 receiving yards on 5 catches, proving himself as an effective complement to Drake Maye in this Patriots offense.
Peter P: Justin Fields is one of the worst Jets QBs I’ve ever seen and that is saying a LOT
Robert G: If Mitchell could catch, it would be appreciated.
Lou T: Drake Maye having a nice pad your stats game. Receivers routinely open with no defenders with 5 yards.
Obvfakeprofile: Jets fans are the best kind of unstable. Hilarity tonight from gang green. I hope things get better for you lot.
These Patriots have their sights set higher (don't they always), but the franchise has just clinched its first winning season since 2021.
It's the Patriots' 36th winning season since the 1970 merger, second only to the Pittsburgh Steelers (41).
Final – Patriots 27, Jets 14
TreVeyon Henderson gets three shots at it and eventually, on third down, barrells forward for a first down.
New England hits victory formation, winning its eighth game in a row.
Q4 1:57 – Patriots 27, Jets 14
That will likely do it for the Jets.
Justin Fields accurately finds Jeremy Ruckert beyond the sticks on fourth-and-4, but the ball is punched loose by Dell Pettus for an incompletion as this game reaches the two-minute warning.
Breaking news: Justin Fields has over 100 yards passing.
Given that Fields has four games this year where he's thrown 60 or fewer yards, this is noteworthy.
To quote Al Michaels from the broadcast, “That’s news!”
Q4 3:58 – Patriots 27, Jets 14
New York is across midfield as Justin Fields hits John Metchie III for a gain of 18 yards.
Metchie has played well tonight for the Jets.
Q4 5:17 – Patriots 27, Jets 14
Justin Fields is sacked on first down before finding Mason Taylor for a gain of 11 yards, setting up third-and-8.
Fields fights off a sack before taking off down the sideline for a gain of 8 yards and a first down.
Q4 6:36 – Patriots 27, Jets 14
New England goes three-and-out after the turnover as Drake Maye was pressured a bit.
The Patriots settle for a 26-yard field goal from Andres Borregales.

Justin Fields needs a factory reset.
Justin Fields has 48 fumbles since 2021, which is the most in the NFL.
Look away, Jets fans!
That should be Justin Fields’ last snap as the Jets quarterback. Enough.
Q4 7:34 – Patriots 24, Jets 14
There have been several bad snaps tonight by the Jets center Josh Myers, but this one costs New York.
Justin Fields is unable to scoop it up, and New England takes over with excellent field position.
Brandon Stephens earlier in the game had an illegal contact penalty while defending Mack Hollins. It negated a Jets sack.
Now, the Jets corner redeems himself, hustling to break up the Hollins catch off a deep pass from Drake Maye. Regardless how this game turns out, that's the type of effort that Jets fans and coaches will love to see from Stephens.
He has eight total tackles tonight.
