SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — A man who had previously won $5 million in the lottery is now accused of stealing tools and electronics from his job at the Millbrae Public Works Department, according to a report by KRON4.
The San Mateo County District Attorney’s office said Evan Adrian Ramirez, 30, of Manteca, is accused of embezzlement by a public officer.
Prosecutors said that between Oct. 1, 2023, and Oct. 7, 2025, Ramirez stole city property, including weedwackers and tools, and sold them on his personal Offer Up account. He is also accused of misusing the Millbrae Public Works credit card for personal purchases.
Ramirez’s supervisor noticed $7,412.82 in missing tools and property, leading to the discovery of the thefts, prosecutors said.
Ramirez is set to be arraigned on charges Wednesday.
