Check if you were selected for the visa lottery
The results of the Diversity Visa Lottery (Green Card Lottery) are now available for those who entered between October and November 2023. To check if you were selected, you must go to the official State Department website: www.dvprogram.state.gov
– The confirmation number received when registering.
– Your last name exactly as you entered it in the registration.
– Your year of birth in four-digit format
– The authentication code displayed on the page.
By pressing the “Submit” button, the system will validate the information and inform you if you were selected.
The lottery results for 2025 can be checked between May 4, 2024 and September 30, 2025. If you are a winner, you will only be able to proceed with the process during fiscal year 2025, that is, from October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2025. After that date, the right to the visa is lost.
If you are selected as a winner, the system will show you instructions on how to apply for an immigrant visa for yourself and your eligible family members. The steps include completing the DS-260 form online and preparing for an interview at the appropriate U.S. embassy or consulate. There it will be decided whether or not your visa is approved. Remember: being selected does not guarantee that you will obtain residency, it only entitles you to start the process.
In case you have lost your confirmation number, you can recover it on the same official website. To do so, you must enter the year of application, your first and last name, date of birth, email address and the authentication code generated by the page.
The State Department emphasizes that results can only be consulted on the official portal. Notifications will not be sent by email, text messages or phone calls. There are also no authorized intermediaries to report results. It is recommended to ignore any attempt at fraud or money collection related to the lottery.
