CULLMAN, Ala. – Jubilee Kitchen and Bar will host a Singo Bingo night on Nov. 18, at 6 p.m. as a fundraiser for the Wallace State Singers.
Wallace Stare Dance Captain Emily Sharp and Vocal Captain Yvonne Wakaimba said they do Christmas caroling around Alabama each Christmas and were looking for other ways to raise money for their upcoming trip.
“I started doing Singo Bingo events at Jubilee and Yvonne would work these events as well,” Sharp said. “We were talking one day and it just clicked that we should combine the two ideas. So we spoke to Katie (Fine), the owner and Yvonne started getting the songs together for it.”
The trip they are fundraising for is a chance for Wallace State Singers to perform on a professional stage in Pigeon Forge.
“We will be opening for the group at the Country Tonite Theatre,” Sharp said. “This gives the kids a chance to see what a professional career in performance is like. Our directors at Wallace State do everything they can to set us up for the best success. Physically going and seeing it for yourself opens so many doors and can put your name on the map for future employers to hire you. We’ve had multiple students from Wallace state to get hired in professional careers.”
Sharp said she appreciates everyone’s help in the creation of this fundraising event.
“We would like to thank Tiffany Richter, Tahauny Cleghorn, Ricky Burks, Angela Green, Amy Seymour, Vicki Karolewics, Suzanne Harbin, Katie Fine and everyone else for helping us make this possible,” Sharp said.
Wakaimba added that the students have worked hard to put this event together.
“We all have outside classes and our regular rehearsals, but we held extra rehearsals to be able prepared for this event,” Wakaimba said.
Jubilee Owner Katie Fine said there will be other ways to contribute to the trip, like giving donations, buying additional bingo cards, etc.
At this event, $5 of every holiday flight purchased will be donated to support the Wallace State Singers’ trip.
Jubilee Kitchen and Bar is located at 515 Fourth St. SW, Cullman.
