A lucky lottery Scratchers player in the North Bay has been confirmed the winner of a $5 million jackpot on a ticket he bought on Valentine’s Day, according to the California Lottery.
Edy Giron Ruiz on Feb. 14 stopped at Husary’s 76 station in Sebastopol after work and decided to buy a Maximum Million Scratchers ticket, the lottery said.

After he revealed his prize, Ruiz took a moment to scan his ticket and “couldn’t believe it,” he told lottery officials.
With his prize now claimed, nine months later, Ruiz said he plans to visit family he hasn’t seen in years.
