Murudeshwar: 25 June 2025 (Bhatkallys News Bureau) The management of the famous Murudeshwar Temple in Karnataka has introduced a dress code for devotees entering the inner sanctum, officially restricting western-style clothing in designated sacred areas of the temple premises.
According to a notice issued by the temple authorities on Monday, male devotees must wear either a traditional panche (dhoti) or full-length formal trousers. Female visitors are required to dress in sarees or salwar kameez. The guidelines strictly prohibit casual or western attire such as jeans, shorts, T-shirts, and skirts within specific inner areas of the temple.
The temple management said that the move comes in response to growing demands from certain Hindu organisations that have called for the preservation of traditional practices in places of worship. A display board outlining the new rules has been placed at the temple entrance to inform visitors about the dress code.
Located along the Arabian Sea coast, Murudeshwar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is one of Karnataka’s most visited religious destinations. Known for its towering Shiva statue and scenic backdrop, the temple draws thousands of devotees and tourists from across the country throughout the year.
While no penalties have been announced for violations yet, temple staff have been instructed to guide visitors regarding the new dress norms and ensure adherence to the code in the sanctum area.

Lotto booth in Birkirkara robbed – The Malta Independent Online
A lotto booth on Dun Karm Street, Birkirkara, was robbed.
The police were informed of the robbery at around 3:30 PM and went on site. Preliminary investigations revealed that a masked man, allegedly armed with a knife, reached through the window and grabbed some cash from the cashier, a 57-year-old woman.
The man fled the scene shortly after, and the police are currently searching for the thief.
A medical team assisted the woman, who was taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance for observation.
Magistrate Philip Galea Farrugia LL.D was informed of the case and has launched an inquiry, while police investigations are still ongoing.

N.Y. Lottery: $1 million second-prize ticket sold in Mega Millions game – SILive.com
A $1 million second-prize ticket was recently sold in the Mega Millions game in New York state.
The New York Lottery announced one second-prize winning ticket was sold for the Dec. 13 drawing.
It was sold at Coldcut Express, located at 507 Dubois Ave., in Valley Stream, New York.
Winning numbers for the Mega Millions game are drawn from a field of one to 70. The Mega Ball number is drawn from a separate field of one to 25. In order to win the jackpot, players must match all five white balls in any order and the gold Mega Ball number.
Mega Millions tickets can be purchased at any New York Lottery retailer for $2, seven days a week. The deadline for purchasing a ticket is 10 p.m. on draw nights.
Drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday, and the New York Lottery urges players to buy tickets early to avoid last-minute lines.
The Mega Millions lottery game is officially raising its ticket prices next year to $5. Tickets will cost $5 per play starting in April 2025 — up from the current $2 per play, according to a press release from Mega Millions.
Additionally, Mega Millions is also getting ready for a major overhaul with new and improved game launches the same month as the price change.
There will be a built-in multiplier on every play, automatically improving every non-jackpot win by 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X or 10X — up to $10 million for matching the five white balls.
The game will also eliminate breakeven prizes, which means that when a player wins, they’ll always win more than the cost of the ticket.
