What to watch for: Despite the loss, Gold Coast looked like a much improved side when they took on Adelaide last week, but Melbourne’s forward line will make it a tough day out. Charlie Rowbottom and Ebony Marinoff going at it in the middle will be one to watch too, the old bull against the young bull.

What to watch for: After a bright start to the season, the wheels have started to fall off for Essendon. North Melbourne are the only team who haven’t lost a game, and they don’t look like slowing down.

What to watch for: Fremantle have found their mojo, it was a tough few weeks but they seem to be back scoring. They’ll travel to Ikon to take on the most improved side in 2025. The Blues copped a hefty loss against North — the best team in the competition — last week, but no doubt their young side took the learning out of it well.
ESPN Tip: Blues by 8 points.
Mission Whitten Oval, 7:15pm (AEST)
What to watch for: The Western Bulldogs’ ladder position is slipping even more each week, and as they fight for their second win of the season, Collingwood might be their best bet, but it won’t be easy. The Pies’ game plan is starting to click, and with one of the youngest teams in the comp. Collingwood have been able to stand their own in games some thought would be over at half time. It’s time for the Western Bulldogs’ younger guns to stand up, much talk about their draft crop in recent years but the reliance on Ellie Blackburn, Issy Pritchard and Alice Edmonds is not working anymore.
ESPN Tip: Magpies by 14 points.
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 28
RSEA Park, 1:05pm (AEST)
What to watch for: Two on trot for the Saints has them gaining confidence each week, but it was a close call against the 18th-placed Tigers. Meanwhile, Port Adelaide are in a similar position, when they are at their best they look unstoppable, especially with a very attacking midfield, but it’s two-way running that lets them down. The Power’s biggest let-down this season is scoring from their defensive half, essentially if they don’t win it from the middle, they won’t score any other way.
ESPN Tip: Saints by 11 points.
Thomas Farms Oval, 3:05pm (AEST)
What to watch for: Sydney will be in search of redemption after two costly upsets against Collingwood and GWS in the past two rounds. Against the lower teams, the Swans have seemingly lost faith in their gameplan. Could a hard tag on Chloe Molloy be the answer? Molloy wasn’t her usual influential self, and throwing her into the midfield made no difference. The Adelaide Crows had an early scare from Gold Coast but in the end found their way with just a 16 point victory. It’s fifth against fourth and both have a lot to prove.

What to watch for: While Richmond are searching for their first win of the year, Brisbane are looking for their first win at home in 2025. The usual powerhouse team looked as if they have struggled with the rest of the competition catching up with them. Sitting at seventh on the ladder, a loss could push them out of the top eight. While the Tigers’ talent is being questioned, their pause on big-name recruitment has caught up with them, as their stars begin to age, and a heavy reliance on Mon Conti, it seems their list depth is worrying.
ESPN Tip: Lions by 25 points.
Mineral Resources Park, 3:05pm (AEST)
What to watch for: GWS have won back-to-back games for the first time since 2021, can they make club history and make it three in-a-row? Their pressure and execution of the famous ‘Orange Tsunami’ game plan is working perfectly, against the Swans and Bulldogs they looked hungrier and a completely different side from two weeks ago. Can they bring it to the West? The Eagles will want to bounce back after two losses in a row. This is the first part of an eight part series focused on pregnancy. Over the course of the next several months, subject matter experts from Landstuhl Regional Medical Center will provide information on things families can do to enhance their pregnancy experiences in addition to the types of programs, services and care options available at LRMC.

For many military families who move overseas, the thoughts of travel, adventure, food and culture is enough to fill even the busiest of weekend calendars. From planning trips with friends to mapping the abundance of castles and Roman ruins, there is no shortage of activities for those who enjoy the thrill of new experiences. However, there are also military families whose calendars are set around ovulation and menstruation; the hopes of pregnancy and a new baby take priority over nearly everything else.
“Wanting a baby is a strong, natural emotion and some couples get frustrated quickly when trying to conceive,” said Maj. Molly Kern, an obstetrician and gynecologist at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center. “Statistics show that even when everything is completely normal, couples can actively ‘try’ for 12 consecutive months before a baby is conceived.”
That strong desire to grow a family is the reason that LRMC offers programs and services for couples who are eager to get pregnant.
“For many couples, their journey toward conceiving a baby started well before the military assigned them overseas,” said Kern. “The ability to offer those couples resources to continue that journey is something that we are very proud of.”
LRMC offers infertility counseling and evaluation through the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology for couples who have been actively trying to conceive for more than 12 months. As part of the consultation, providers like Kern will ask about a patient’s medical history, previous use of birth control and any genetic concerns. In addition, patients are asked to provide blood samples and run through a series of radiology examinations, receive medical advice and potentially a prescription for ovulation induction medication.
According to Kern, a woman’s body may require a considerable adjustment period after stopping birth control medication. The LRMC infertility counseling includes discussions on the type of birth control previously used and tips to help the body adjust and begin ovulating on a regular frequency.
“Many women also suffer from fibroids, or benign uterine muscle growth, which can impede conception,” said Kern. “LRMC can help manage those cases surgically.”
TIPS TO IMPROVE THE ODDS OF CONCEPTION
Get as healthy as you can right now
Diet and exercise are critical for women who are trying to get pregnant. Eating healthy and exercising three to four times a week can greatly improve a woman’s chances of conceiving.
Decrease your BMI
In addition to consistent exercising, having a body mass index of less than 25 will improve a woman’s chance of getting pregnant.
Avoid tobacco
Smoking can affect fertility and the fetus when a woman gets pregnant.
Start taking prenatal vitamins
Prenatal vitamins provide folic acid and other nutrients that assist with fetal development.
Seek relationship counseling
Trying to conceive can be tough for relationships. During the infertility counseling, patients are encouraged to ask their OB/GYN provider for a referral to behavioral health for assistance in improving struggling relationships.
Time is of the essence
Conceiving a child is harder for women over the age of 35, so patients who fall in to this category are encouraged to schedule a preconception or infertility counseling appointment sooner rather than later to discuss medical options.

For some couples, conceiving is still difficult even with the most stringent adherence to these recommendations.
“If, after a certain time period, the couple still has not been able to conceive, we may look at options like fertility intervention,” said Kern. “The good news for us in Germany is that services like in vitro fertilization are cheaper than in the States, which may have been a huge barrier for couples wanting a baby.”
Some LRMC patients who are TRICARE beneficiaries may be eligible for financial assistance for fertility programs. TRICARE will cover some associated costs for fertility programs if the services are considered medically necessary. Patients can log on to www.tricare.mil and search for “assisted reproductive services” for more information. Some services may require a referral.
“As an OB/GYN doctor who has the honor of delivering babies here at LRMC, there’s something magical about seeing the look on a new parent’s face when they hold their child for the first time, especially when I know how hard they have tried to get pregnant,” said Kern.
