The Mega Millions jackpot shot up to $754 million this week — the ninth-largest prize in the lottery game’s history since it began in 2002. The largest Mega Millions jackpot was $1.6 billion in 2023.
The last jackpot claimed was in Virginia in June, when a lucky ticket holder won the $348 million prize. Drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday, and the $5 tickets are sold in 45 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

At the time of the writing of this article, the price of one of the decadent bars on the Fix Dessert Chocolatier website was $40.57. The Mega Millions jackpot winner could have enough dough to buy 18,585,161 Dubai chocolate bars.
A new ultra-long-range private jet, which could fly up to 16 hours, would cost around $65 million, according to Global Charter. So if someone wins the grand prize, they could buy 11 of this type of swanky aircraft, which is also owned by celebrities like Michael Jordan, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg. This price doesn’t include the crew costs or maintenance fees.
Apple’s new iPhone 17 starts at $799 per phone. The jackpot winner could buy 943,679 phones, which is more than enough for the population of the entire state of North Dakota, which is estimated at 796,568, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

No one was injured in an armed hold-up that took place in Birkirkara on Friday but the robber fled with a wad of cash.
The case took place at a lotto shop in Triq Dun Filippu at around 9:45am, the police said.
The assailant, wearing a mask and armed with a knife, ordered the cashier – a 61-year-old woman from Birkirkara – to hand over the cash. He then fled the scene. The amount of cash stolen was not disclosed.
