Delaware woman claims $1M Powerball prize. Where ticket was purchased – The News Journal

A lucky $1-million Powerball winner has come forward.
A 51-year-old Dover woman claimed her $1 million prize after winning it big during the Oct. 22 drawing.
The Dover resident, who works in promotions supervision, started playing six weeks ago “for fun,” according to a news release from the Delaware Lottery.
Lottery officials said she usually buys three tickets at a time and used the quick pick option for this drawing, which was the right choice because it secured her first lottery win.
After scanning her ticket, she was in complete shock. The first person she told about her life-changing win was her father.
Still filled with excitement, she said she hasn’t yet decided what she plans to do with her winnings, officials said.
“A $1 million Powerball win is something truly special,” said Helene Keeley, Delaware Lottery director. “We’re so happy for our winner and love sharing in the excitement of moments like this. We encourage all our players to keep the fun in playing by doing so responsibly.”
The woman claimed her prize at Delaware Lottery Headquarters on Oct. 30.
The $1 million-winning Powerball ticket was sold at Harrington Raceway and Casino, according to Delaware Lottery officials.
The winning numbers from the Oct. 22 drawing were 18-37-52-54-60, and the Powerball was 12. The Power Play was 2X.
There was no grand prize winner that matched all five white balls and the Powerball.
However, there was a Match 5 winner worth $1 million in Delaware.
The previous $1 million Powerball win in Delaware was on April 7, 2024. That ticket was sold at the Wawa at 30155 Veterans Way in Rehoboth.
Tickets are valid for up to one year past the drawing date for drawing game prizes or within one year of the announced end of sales for Instant Games, according to delottery.com.
First things first, sign the back of your ticket using an ink pen to identify yourself as the ticket owner. According to the Delaware lottery, once signed, ticket ownership cannot be changed or transferred.
For prizes $599 or less, tickets can be redeemed at Delaware lottery retailers or the Delaware Lottery Office. You can also mail your tickets to the Delaware Lottery Office: 1575 McKee Road, Suite 102, Dover, DE 19904.
Prizes worth $2,500 or less can be claimed at select Delaware Lottery retailer claim centers throughout Kent, Sussex and New Castle counties.
Any prize between $600 and $5,000 can be claimed between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday to Friday at these redemption centers:
A prize worth $5,001 or more can be claimed at the Delaware Lottery Office on business days from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. You must bring a photo ID that includes your name and address, as well as a Social Security card.
All winning Powerball, Mega Millions and Lotto America tickets must be redeemed in the state and jurisdiction where they were sold.
The next drawing will be Nov. 26 at 10:59 p.m. ET.
The current Powerball jackpot is $681 million with a cash value of $315.7 million after there was no grand prize winner from the Nov. 24 drawing.
In Delaware, tickets may be purchased until 9:45 p.m. ET on the day of the drawing.
In New Jersey and Pennsylvania, you can purchase tickets until 9:59 p.m.
Powerball drawings are held three times a week, every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. ET.
The Powerball costs $2 per play.
In Pennsylvania, you can buy tickets online: www.pailottery.com/games/draw-games/.
Tickets can be bought online as well in New Jersey: njlotto.com.
To play, select five numbers from 1 to 69 for the white balls, then select one number from 1 to 26 for the red Powerball.
You can choose your lucky numbers on a play slip or let the lottery terminal randomly pick your numbers.
To win, match one of the nine ways to win:
There’s a chance to have your winnings increased two, three, four, five and 10 times through the Power Play for an additional $1 per play. Players can multiply non-jackpot wins up to 10 times when the jackpot is $150 million or less.
All prizes are set cash amounts, except for the grand prize. In California, prize payout amounts are pari-mutuel, meaning it’s determined by the sales and the number of winners.
The odds of winning the Powerball grand prize are 1 in 292,201,338. The odds for the lowest prize, $4 for one red Powerball, are 1 in 38.32.
According to Powerball, the overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 24.87, based on a $2 play and rounded to two decimal places.

A lucky player could scoop £143 million in the EuroMillions jackpot, which is up for grabs on Tuesday night.
If someone in the UK matches all seven numbers on Tuesday, it will be the largest win in the UK so far this year.
The jackpot has rolled over from Friday night’s National Lottery EuroMillions. The winning numbers were 17, 19, 29, 35, 48, and the lucky stars were 5 and 9, however, nobody managed to claim the top prize.
The most recent EuroMillions jackpot was won on 10 October, when a lucky UK player took home £25,701,358.
To win the jackpot, a player must match all five numbers plus the two lucky stars, which will be drawn at 8.45pm on Tuesday.
The largest EuroMillions win ever in the UK stands at £195M jackpot, and 19 UK players have won prizes of more than £100m in its history.
In August, a ticket holder from France became the third player in 2025 to win a EuroMillions jackpot of €250m, an estimated £210m, which equalled the records set in Ireland and Austria earlier this year.

Students explore sports careers at Atlanta Hawks game – Oglethorpe University

LATEST: Apply now for Fall 2026!
Atlanta is a major sports hub in the United States, offering endless opportunities for fans and those looking to work in the sports industry. Oglethorpe’s unique location and resources allow students to experience both. Ten Oglethorpe students recently explored the behind-the-scenes of sports careers at an Atlanta Hawks game at State Farm Arena
With guidance from Dr. Kate Keib, associate professor of communication studies, students developed communication and marketing-focused projects based on the organization’s operations and game-day responsibilities. Their assignments ranged from creating social media content to writing reports, all of which provided them with hands-on experience in communications work.
Students listened to a panel moderated by Stuart Spiers ’18, an Oglethorpe business administration graduate and current manager of ticket sales with the Hawks. The panel included the following Hawks team members:
“Connecting students from my alma mater with the Hawks and giving them a behind-the-scenes look at our organization was an incredible experience,” said Spiers. “Hopefully, everyone got a glimpse of the energy, culture and people that make this team and city so special. It was a proud moment to represent Oglethorpe and show the students how far their passion and hard work can take them.”
Participants in the Hawks visit were each recommended by a faculty or staff member. Mikaia Wheaton ’27, a philosophy major with a special interest in social media, was recommended to attend through her personal relationship with Alyssa Merletti ’24, assistant director of alumni engagement.
“I was very grateful for this opportunity–even though I was a little hesitant at first,” says Wheaton. “I found the experience to be very enjoyable with all the things I was able to learn. I was able to educate myself about the inner workings of what keeps the Hawks going and how they really incorporate the people of Atlanta in all they do.”
“I also always love visiting more parts of Atlanta, so it was fun to learn and explore from this experience,” says Wheaton.
These students will work on their individual projects and later present them at the Liberal Arts and Sciences Symposium in the spring.
A short MARTA ride into the city, growing relationships with Atlanta sports organizations, and access to essential career resources make it even more convenient for Oglethorpe students to pursue standout opportunities in the city’s growing sports industry.

How much of the $4M Lotto prize will Louisiana winner actually take home after taxes? – The Advocate

A Hoosier Lottery employee holds Mega Millions tickets at the Hoosier Lottery booth at the Indiana State Fair, Thursday, Aug. 3, 2023, in Indianapolis. The odds of winning a $1.25 billion Mega Millions jackpot Friday night are infinitesimally small, but that doesn’t stop players from some mighty big daydreams of what they would do if they won the giant prize. It may be a seven-figure payout, but don’t forget about Uncle Sam.
A lucky gambler who bought a Lotto ticket from a Metairie gas station had a winning combination Saturday night resulting in a $3.9 million jackpot, according to the Louisiana Lottery.
It’s one of the biggest lottery wins in the state in months, but the person with the newfound fortune won’t bring that entire total home.
In Louisiana, any lottery win over $5,000 is subject to a 3% state tax deduction and 24% federal tax deduction, according to the Louisiana Lottery website.
That means the winner will pay 27% in taxes off the top. On a $3.9 million win, the tax deductions total about $1.053 million, leaving about $2.8 million for the payout.
The Louisiana Lottery has payed out more than $15 million in wins from lottery tickets and scratch-offs since September, according to data provided by the company.

Is a 100% XLM Price Rally Possible From Current Levels? – TradingView

The XLM price is once again testing a familiar support range that previously triggered major reversals, raising fresh curiosity among traders. As the XLM price today hovers around the key levels that historically produced strong bounces, technical patterns and strong network activity are shaping renewed interest in the future outlook for Stellar crypto.
XLM Price $0.23-$0.24 Support Critical
The current market setup has drawn attention because the XLM price USD has reached the same zone where it previously bounced 33%, 48%, and 133% the last three times it touched $0.23-$0.24.
This repeating behavior now fuels speculation around whether the pattern may replay. With the broader market showing mixed sentiment, the Stellar price chart is once again highlighting a price level that has acted as a major historical springboard.
XLM Price Tracks a Repeating Falling Wedge Structure
Technical analysts have also pointed out that XLM/USD has formed an almost identical falling wedge structure twice this year. The first wedge resulted in a strong breakout and a sharp rally. Now, the second wedge is pressing directly against its breakout zone again, creating another potential turning point.
If the XLM price prediction scenario mirrors the earlier breakout, the pattern suggests a clean 100% move could be possible from the current level. While no trend is guaranteed, the structural similarity between both wedges strengthens the case for a directional shift if buyers step in decisively.
XLM Price Supported by Strong Network Activity on Stellar
Beyond technical indicators, on-chain data provides additional context supporting optimism. According to yearly statistics from Token Terminal, Stellar ranked among the Top 10 blockchain projects by transaction count, posting a total of 1.5 billion confirmed transactions over the past 365 days. This reflects strong user engagement and consistent activity on the network.

Furthermore, Stellar also appears in the Top 10 projects by transactions per second, with an average weekly throughput of 48.5 TPS over the last year. This reinforces Stellar’s ongoing real-time usage and positions it as a network continuing to operate with meaningful demand.

That said, for traders evaluating the XLM price forecast, this combination of active utility and stable throughput offers another reason to watch the current setup closely.
Since technical patterns repeat and network activity maintains strength, the XLM price now sits at a critical point.
FAQs
XLM shows potential with strong network activity and a repeating bullish chart pattern. However, always conduct your own research and consider market risks before investing.
XLM’s price potential depends on market trends and adoption; past patterns suggest strong upside, but no move is guaranteed.
Reaching $10 would require massive adoption and bullish market conditions; it’s theoretically possible but highly ambitious.
