Two Maryland Lottery players have won big, each winning $100,000 in recent games, according to Maryland Lottery and Gaming.
A player in Lanham secured the hefty prize over the weekend playing the "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" FAST PLAY game. Meanwhile, a Temple Hills player claimed a $100,000 win last week on a scratch-off ticket. These Prince George's County wins topped the Maryland Lottery's big prize list for the week.
During the week of Sept. 22-28, the Maryland Lottery paid out nearly $29.3 million in prizes across all games, with 21 tickets worth $10,000 or more sold or redeemed.
Winners are advised to sign the backs of their tickets and store them safely.
Draw game tickets and FAST PLAY tickets expire 182 days after their respective drawing or purchase dates.

Two of Myfembree’s active ingredients are hormones. Estradiol is a type of estrogen, and norethindrone is a type of progestin (a synthetic form of progesterone). Drugs that contain these hormones are known to cause an increased risk of blood clots and serious cardiovascular problems. “Cardiovascular” refers to the heart and blood vessels.
Rarely, Myfembree may cause blood clots.* Specific types of blood clots that may occur include deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE). Blood clots can cause serious cardiovascular problems such as a heart attack or stroke.

Symptoms of blood clots

Bone mineral density describes bone strength. Loss of bone mineral density may occur with Myfembree. Specifically, bone loss in the lower back was reported in some people who took the drug for up to 1 year in clinical studies.*
Decreased bone mineral density or bone loss may lead to osteoporosis (weak and brittle bones) and bone fractures. But it isn’t known if taking Myfembree further increases your risk of future fractures.
It’s not possible to reverse bone loss due to Myfembree by stopping treatment with the drug. Because of this long-term side effect risk, your doctor will likely prescribe Myfembree for no longer than 24 months.
Before and during Myfembree treatment, your doctor may order a bone mineral density test called a DEXA scan. This test checks the strength of your bones.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Someone bought a $225,000 winning Cash Ball 225 Kentucky Lottery ticket in Oldham County.
According to lottery officials, the drawing held on Saturday, Sept. 27 produced the big winner.
The winning ticket was sold at Circle K at 6465 West Highway 146 in Crestwood. The ticket matched four white ball winning numbers and the Cash Ball, which were: 13-15-30-34 and Cash Ball 15.
All Kentucky Lottery players are advised to sign the back of their tickets and keep them in a secure location.  Prizes for winning tickets must be claimed within 180 days from the date of the drawing.  Prizes are claimed at lottery headquarters, at 1011 W. Main St. in Louisville.
Winners should contact the lottery at 1-877-789-4532 to make an appointment. Winners have 180 days from the drawing in which they won to claim their prize.

Jeremy Wilson of Willow Spring got a life-changing stroke of luck when a $50 scratch-off revealed a $10 million top prize.
“I only buy $50 tickets when I’m feeling lucky,” he said.
Wilson, 20, bought his lucky $10 Million Spectacular ticket from North River Tobacco Barn on Caratoke Highway in Jarvisburg in Currituck County. He then scratched the ticket in the store.
“It was a crazy feeling,” Wilson said, recalling his winning moment. “I couldn’t control myself.”
He said he told his mom right away what happened.
“She thought I was joking,” he said.
Wilson’s big win marks the third $10 million win in North Carolina so far this year.
When Wilson arrived to collect his winnings, he had a decision to make. He could choose to receive his prize as an annuity of $500,000 a year over 20 years or a lump sum of $6 million. He chose the lump sum of $6 million and, after state and federal tax withholdings, took home $4,305,014.
Wilson plans to take his mom on a trip for her birthday and save the rest of his winnings.
The $10 Million Spectacular game debuted in December 2023 with five top prizes of $10 million, 20 prizes of $1 million and 20 prizes of $100,000. Since Wilson won the last $10 million top prize, the lottery will begin the process of ending the game.

PERRY COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) – Officials with AAA Bluegrass provided some safety tips to remind folks out on the road.
Lori Weaver Hawkins said if you are a driving and come into contact with a road rage driver, you should give them distance and not interact with them.
“Don’t take the bait. Don’t make any eye contact and don’t offer any gestures or anything like that. Offer no response,” she said. “That is your best bet when you are confronted with an aggressive driver.“
Hawkins suggests if the driver does not go on their way, to stop at a safe location or call police.
She said it is important not to let drivers with rage follow you to your home.
Hawkins also has safety tips for parents dealing with car seats.
Child restrains of any type, car seat or booster seat, can reduce fatalities by 71 percent for infants younger than one year old and 54 percent for children that are one to four years old.
Hawkins said the consequences were deadly for kids who were not properly restrained.
“Nearly 4 in 10, that is 37 percent of kids ages 7 to 11 who are killed in a car crash were not completely restrained. They were completely unrestrained rather.”

With daylight getting shorter, those on the roadsides are at risk.
It is important for drivers to watch out for workers or vehicles on roadsides during the dark.
“More than 75 percent of all road side deaths occur after dark. It’s very important that we are mindful of that and realize we don’t have the visibility after dark that we do in the broad daylight.“
Kentucky does enforce the ‘Slow Down, Move Over’ law. This law requires drivers to slow down and move over when they approach a vehicle with flashing lights on the side of the road including emergency, public safety, towing and even disabled vehicles with hazard signals.

Global traditional finance (TradFi) payments system SWIFT said it is adding a blockchain-based ledger to its network.
SWIFT is working with a group of over 30 financial institutions to build a ledger that could make cross-border payments 24/7, based on a prototype by Ethereum developers Consensys, according to an announcement on Monday.
"The ledger will extend SWIFT's financial communication role into a digital environment, facilitating banks' movement of regulated tokenized value across digital ecosystems," SWIFT said.
SWIFT is a messaging system that supports international bank transactions and is used by more than 11,000 financial institutions across over 200 countries.
Facing suggestions that it could be made obsolete by adoption of digital assets, particularly stablecoins, SWIFT has been experimenting with blockchain technology and tokenization for several years to try and get on the front foot against this potential disruption.
SWIFT said it envisages that the ledger will act as a real-time log of transactions between financial institutions, record, sequencing and validating transactions and enforcing its rules through smart contracts.
