The buildup continues – literally, and metaphorically speaking.
Nobody has been lucky enough to win the Powerball jackpot in a while, and now the grand prize for this weekend’s drawing is up to $629 million, with a cash option being an estimated $295.4 million.
The Powerball drawing coming up on Saturday, Nov. 22 will be the 33rd since the jackpot last hit Sept. 6, 2025, when tickets sold in Missouri and Texas split a $1.787 billion grand prize.
According to a release from the state lottery office, one $50,000 prize was won in Wednesday’s drawing on a ticket sold in in Rowley, Massachusetts.
And don’t look now, but the Megabucks jackpot is hitting an all-time high under its new format. That drawing will also happen this Saturday.

Drawings are held at 10:59 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.
You can check the Massachusetts Lottery website, or the Powerball website for the drawing results.
Powerball tickets are $2 each and can be purchased until 9:50 p.m. on the day of a drawing.
The Powerball website states that, “the overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 24.9. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.”
To play Powerball, you have to buy a ticket for $2. You can do this at a variety of locations, including your local convenience store, gas station, or grocery store. In some states, Powerball tickets can be bought online.
Once you have your ticket, you need to pick six numbers. Five of them will be white balls with numbers from 1 to 69. The red Powerball ranges from 1 to 26. People can also add a “Power Play” for $1, which increases the winning for all non-jackpot prizes.
The “Power Play” multiplier can multiply winnings by: 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X, or 10X.
If you are feeling unlucky or want the computer to do the work for you, the “Quick Pick” option is available, where computer-generated numbers will be printed on a Powerball ticket. To win the jackpot, players must match all five white balls in any order and the red Powerball.
If no one wins the jackpot for a given drawing, the cash prize will continue to tick up.

According to a release, tickets are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
“More than half of all proceeds from the sale of a Powerball ticket remain in the jurisdiction where the ticket was sold,” the release states. “Since its first drawing in 1992, the Powerball game has helped generate more than $36 billion for good causes supported by U.S. lotteries.”
The Megabucks jackpot for Saturday’s drawing is an estimated $7.5 million, with a $5.15 million cash option, according to the Massachusetts State Lottery.
“This is the game’s largest jackpot since the game was redesigned in 2023 to bring more value to players including better odds of winning, higher average jackpots, bigger payouts for all non-jackpot prizes as well as including an additional third weekly drawing,” the lottery office stated in a release.
The release added, “Prior to this, the game’s largest jackpot under the new game matrix was $6.13 million which was hit on (Jan. 27, 2025) on a ticket purchased in Rockland, Massachusetts.
Megabucks tickets are $2 each and can only be purchased in Massachusetts.
Tickets for this Saturday’s drawing can be purchased until 9 p.m.

A TEAM of generous National Lottery winners have sprinkled a little extra Christmas magic in Caerphilly, packing and wrapping giftboxes of toys for local children to enjoy this festive season.
Christmas tunes filled the air, as the group were put to work at the ToyBox Project in Bedwas, Caerphilly, a National Lottery-funded good cause that collects pre-loved and new toy donations and gifts these to families and organisations in need across South Wales.
With Christmas a particularly busy time for ToyBox Project, and equally demanding for families, the winners formed their own version of Father Christmas’ North Pole workshop. They carefully sorted, packed, and lovingly wrapped toys for children of all ages – from newborn babies to teenagers – who might otherwise have very little to unwrap on Christmas morning.
The charitable winners didn’t arrive empty-handed either, all on a mission to bring some of their own Christmas magic, they arrived with new items to add to the ToyBox Project’s donated gifts and toys. In between the packing, the winners met with some of the families who’ve been supported by the project to hear firsthand just how important it is, not just at Christmas time.
Among the helpers was mum of five, Ceri-Ann Roscoe-Roberts from Llanberris who won £1M in 2023.
She said, “As a mum of five, and especially before our amazing win, I know Christmas can be a tricky time so when I heard about the project, Paul and I jumped at the chance to help out.
“While they are busy year round, the volunteers have told us demand doubles at Christmas and they’re expecting to provide toys to more than 1,500 kids.
“We genuinely hope what we have done today helps make Christmas a little brighter for these kids and their families in South Wales.
“Seeing how much love and effort goes into ToyBox’s work is really inspiring – it reminds you what the true spirit of Christmas is all about.”
Since being established in 2020, Toybox has become an essential resource for thousands of children, and their families, across south Wales; in 2024 alone, they provided toys to more than 9,000 children. The project operates all year round, and in addition to the Christmas gifting and a free-to-use shop, partners with local schools to help distribute toys meaning even more items are put to good use.

The Lacombe Pride Society is bringing festive cheer to the community this week with two exciting events in one: an all-ages Holiday Drag Bingo and a Queer Christmas Market.
The holiday festivities kick off on Saturday (November 22) from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Lacombe Memorial Centre upstairs in the Kinsmen Room.
Guests are invited to enjoy a night of sparkle, laughter, and community spirit featuring Lush PanHick, Lacombe’s very own bearded diva, hosting a family-friendly drag bingo.
Jonathan Luscombe, Executive Director of the Lacombe Pride Society, explained that the event is designed to be inclusive and fun for everyone. “It’s a chance to bring the community together, share some iconic holiday songs, and enjoy a whimsical, festive evening,” Luscombe said.
In addition to bingo, the Holiday Queer Christmas Market will showcase local queer crafters, including Pride Society board members, offering unique gifts that are often hard to find in Central Alberta.
“It gives smaller creators a chance to sell their works and for people to shop for niche, queer-themed gifts without having to go to Edmonton or Calgary,” Luscombe added.
“They don’t always fit in, in these holiday themed markets so to just have a little space for them as well during the Christmas and holiday season.” Luscombe said.
Before the Drag Bingo, Lacombe Pride is also hosting the Rainbow Underground Welcome Back Party for youth aged 10 to 18.
Set for tonight (November 21) from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the same venue, this event promises games, snacks, and an opportunity for local youth to connect, meet new friends, and enjoy a safe, inclusive space.
