Powerball tickets are $2 each and can be purchased until 9:50 p.m. on the day of a drawing.
The Powerball website states that, “the overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 24.9. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.”
To play Powerball, you have to buy a ticket for $2. You can do this at a variety of locations, including your local convenience store, gas station, or grocery store. In some states, Powerball tickets can be bought online.
Once you have your ticket, you need to pick six numbers. Five of them will be white balls with numbers from 1 to 69. The red Powerball ranges from 1 to 26. People can also add a “Power Play” for $1, which increases the winning for all non-jackpot prizes.
The “Power Play” multiplier can multiply winnings by: 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X, or 10X.
If you are feeling unlucky or want the computer to do the work for you, the “Quick Pick” option is available, where computer-generated numbers will be printed on a Powerball ticket. To win the jackpot, players must match all five white balls in any order and the red Powerball.
If no one wins the jackpot for a given drawing, the cash prize will continue to tick up.

The Megabucks jackpot for Wednesday’s drawing is an estimated $7.45 million, in which the winner could take a $5.1 million cash option.
“This is the game’s largest jackpot since the game was redesigned in 2023 to bring more value to players including better odds of winning, higher average jackpots, bigger payouts for all non-jackpot prizes as well as including an additional third weekly drawing,” according to a release from the Massachusetts Lottery.
Prior to tonight’s drawing, the game’s largest jackpot under the new game matrix was $6.13 million which was hit on Jan. 27 on a ticket purchased in Rockland, Massachusetts.
Megabucks tickets are $2 each and can only be purchased in Massachusetts.
Tickets for Wednesday’s drawing can be purchased until 9 p.m.
Megabucks drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 9 p.m.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Kentucky college student was shocked to learn she won thousands of dollars from a lottery scratch off ticket.
Bella Sears, who attends a Lexington college, bought a $5 Mega Super Hot 7’s ticket from the Murphy USA on Letton Drive in Paris, Ky.
“I couldn’t wait to get back to work. I always scratch my tickets in the car,” she said. “I started scratching and then I think it was the fifth number, and it was a seven. I was like I’m just going to scratch off [the prize amount] and it’s only going to be $5.”
Sears had actually won the game’s second top prize of $7,777.
“When I saw that, I was like this has got to be a prank, this is a joke, this is not real,” she said.
When she called her father, she was already crying.
“I thought she had wrecked her car by the way she was carrying on,” he told Kentucky Lottery officials.
Sears then told her mom and coworkers.
“They all thought I was lying. The girls at work said they never win,” Sears said.
After taxes, Sears took home a check for $5,599.44. She plans to use some of that money to pay for college.
“And I want to save some of it for emergencies because being a college student, things do happen, and stuff goes wrong,” Sears said.
Kentucky Lottery said Mega Super Hot 7s is a relatively new game, debuting in February. 
There is still one $77,777 top prize remaining and 22 other $7,777 second-tier prizes remaining.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WFXG) — The South Carolina Education Lottery has announced that players holding certain CASH POP tickets from the Monday, Nov. 17 drawing will be eligible for refunds.
Officials say a total of 214 tickets were printed in error, showing the draw as “ALL” instead of the required “DAY” or “EVE.” Under South Carolina Code Section 59-150-230(C)(3)(a), prizes from tickets produced in error cannot be paid, but affected players will be reimbursed the purchase price.
The Lottery’s terminal game vendor, Brightstar Lottery, has identified and corrected the technical issue, and CASH POP sales have since resumed.
How to request a refund:
Mail the original CASH POP tickets (no copies accepted) to: S.C. Education Lottery, P.O. Box 11039, Columbia, SC 29211-1039
Include your name and return address.
Refunds will cover the purchase price of each ticket and reimburse postage up to the cost of first-class USPS mail.
Tickets may also be dropped off at the Lottery’s Columbia Claims Center.
Refund requests must be received by Friday, January 16, 2026.
