Georgia Ticket Wins $980 Million Mega Millions Jackpot — 8th Largest in Game History – Positively Osceola

Nov 15, 2025 | |
The Mega Millions® jackpot of $980 Million has finally been hit — and this time, the life-changing winning ticket was sold in Georgia.
After climbing steadily since late June, the jackpot was won for just the fifth time in 2025 during Friday night’s drawing. One ticket matched all six numbers — 1, 8, 11, 12, 57 and the gold Mega Ball 7 — securing an estimated $980 million prize, or $452.2 million in cash. It’s the largest jackpot ever awarded in the month of November and ranks as the eighth largest Mega Millions prize in history.
Georgia, one of the original founding members of Mega Millions, also celebrates its largest jackpot win ever and its first jackpot hit since November 2016.
$980 million is the largest jackpot that’s been won since the Mega Millions game changed back in April,” said Joshua Johnston, lead director for the Mega Millions Consortium. “Congratulations to our big winner from Georgia and to all our players who are winning more than ever with this new version of the game.
Friday’s winner ended what had become the longest jackpot run in Mega Millions history — 40 consecutive drawings since the last jackpot was hit in Virginia on June 27.
During that run:
Nearly 14.3 million winning tickets were sold at all prize levels
$343.4 million in non-jackpot prizes were awarded
21 second-tier prizes worth $2 million or more were won across multiple states, including Florida
347 third-tier prizes ranging from $20,000 to $100,000 were claimed in 40 jurisdictions nationwide
Even beyond the massive jackpot, Friday’s drawing delivered a surge of winners:
1,112,941 winning tickets were sold across all prize levels
One ticket sold in Michigan matched the five white balls and, with the 3X multiplier, is worth $3 million
48 tickets nationwide won the third-tier prize by matching four white balls plus the Mega Ball, with winnings multiplied based on the Megaplier
Florida was among the states with multiple third-tier winners.
With the jackpot claimed, Mega Millions will reset to its starting amount for the next drawing — but after a historic run of winners and enhanced prize levels, players across the country are already looking ahead to what could come next.
Positively Osceola will continue to share updates on major lottery wins and other breaking news impacting our community.

Did anyone win the Mega Millions last night? See results of Nov. 14 drawing – USA Today

Winning numbers were drawn in the eighth-largest Mega Millions drawing ever on Friday night, Nov. 14 with a jackpot of $980 million up for grabs. And after nearly five months, the game got a big winner.
One winner in Georgia matched all six numbers in the Nov. 14 drawing – matching the white balls 1, 8, 11, 12 and 57, plus the gold Mega Ball 7 – to win a jackpot of an estimated $980 million prize, or a one-time cash payment of $452.2 million. The win was Mega Million’s eighth largest jackpot ever and the largest prize ever won in the month of November.
“$980 million is the largest jackpot that’s been won since the Mega Millions game changed back in April,” said Joshua Johnston, lead director for the Mega Millions Consortium, in a news release. “Congratulations to our big winner from Georgia and to all our players who are winning more than ever with this new version of the game.”
Mega Millions ticket prices raised to $5 per play in April; the higher price includes a built-in multiplier, which increases non-jackpot prizes by two, three, four, five, or 10 times. Previously, in some states, players paid an extra dollar for a multiplier, known as the Megaplier. A higher starting jackpot is also part of the April changes; the jackpot for the next drawing on Tuesday, Nov. 18 has a starting value of $50 million ($23.1 million cash).
The jackpot is the largest won since December 2024’s $1.269 billion prize awarded in California.
This year, there have been four Mega Millions winners. The most recent winner, from Virginia, claimed a jackpot of $348 million on June 27. Before that, an Ohio player won a $112 million jackpot on April 18. On March 25, a lucky ticket holder in Illinois took home $344 million, and earlier in the year, on Jan. 17, another winner in Arizona won $113 million.

Mega Millions results for 11/14/25; 1 winner of $980 million jackpot – MLive.com

LANSING, MI — A lucky player in Georgia was the lone winner of the $980 million Mega Millions jackpot for the drawing held on Friday, Nov. 14. That means the drawing on Tuesday, Nov. 18 will be worth $50 million.
The Mega Millions jackpot had not been won since June 27, leading to Friday night’s huge grand prize. The $980 million jackpot is the eighth largest in the game’s history. The winner now has the option of taking the cash payout which is worth $452.2 million or the $980 million prize, paid out as an annuity.
Along with the jackpot winner, a player in Michigan matched all five white numbers to win a $3 million prize. As of 9:45 a.m., the Michigan Lottery has not announced where that winning ticket was sold.
For the latest on Michigan Lottery, check out the official Michigan Lottery site, which also offers more information on instant tickets, raffles and other lottery games.
The last players from Michigan to win a Mega Millions or Powerball jackpot is the Breakfast Club lottery club which claimed a $842 million jackpot in June 2024. The members plan to use the money to buy a home in Florida and travel.
And while they were lucky winners, it’s smart for players to check their tickets immediately as a Powerball winner worth $250,000 sold in Bloomfield Hills in 2024 went unclaimed. That money went to the state’s School Aid Fund.
