That’s how close three New Jersey lottery players (two from Bergen County) came to winning Friday’s $980 million Mega Millions jackpot, which was won in Georgia.
The New Jersey Lottery announced on Saturday, Nov. 15 that three tickets matched four of the five white balls and the Mega Ball to win prizes on the $10,000 base level. With the built-in multiplier, the lottery players won $20,000 and $30,000.

The numbers drawn Friday were 1, 8, 11, 12, 57 and the Mega number was 7. The drawing was the 40th since the last time a ticket with all six numbers was sold.
The owner of the ticket has the option of receiving $980 million in 30 graduated annual installments or a lump sum cash payment of $452.2 million, according to the Mega Millions Consortium, which conducts the game.

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has approved the first herbal medicine for clinical trial on COVID-19 treatment.

It is named Cryptolepis Sanguinolenta, locally known as Nibima.

This was disclosed in a statement issued in Accra on Monday and signed by Mrs Delese A.A. Darko, the Chief Executive Officer of the FDA.

“The Food and Drugs Authority and the National Regulatory Agency in Ghana have approved a herbal medicine; Cryptolepis Sanguinolenta, locally known as Nibima, for clinical trials in January 2021,” it said.

The statement said in search of COVID-19 treatment, researchers from the School of Public Health at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology submitted a clinical application.

It said the application was to assess the safety and efficacy of Cryptolepois Sanguinolenta as a potential treatment of COVID-19.

This follows results from lab studies conducted by the KNUST Research team, which points in the direction of possible clinical benefits, the statement said.

Mega Millions Miss: Alexandria Publisher’s Dreams Dashed Again – thezebra.org

I woke up this morning ready—truly ready—to pack my imaginary bags, claim my imaginary keys to a sunny little Florida condo overlooking a golf course, and establish the kind of forever endowment that would let The Zebra Press, Alexandria’s beloved source for good news and community storytelling, coast proudly into the future on a cloud of financial security.
Because, as you might know, I am an eternal optimist. Eternal. Relentless. Borderline delusional most days, especially when jackpots approach a billion.
But then… reality.
Some fortunate person in Georgia matched all six Mega Millions numbers Friday night. While I was here carefully flattening out my crumpled Alexandria-bought ticket just in case the scanner “made a mistake,” someone down South is probably already scrolling Pinterest boards titled “Which Color Lamborghini Says Responsible Adult?”
Meanwhile, your faithful publisher is still right here—pounding the cobblestones—dreaming small dreams like “retire before 104,” “replace the printer,” and “maybe get a parking spot that’s not half a zip code away.”
The winning numbers, by the way, were 1, 8, 11, 12, 57 and Mega Ball 7—in case you’d like to confirm your own shattered hopes. The jackpot had crept up to $980 million, the eighth largest in Mega Millions history, and someone actually did it.
And yes, I briefly imagined The Zebra finally getting that permanent endowment. I pictured future generations saying, “Remember when Mary hit the jackpot and funded citywide good-news coverage for eternity?” Then I checked my numbers and thought, “Well. Maybe next Tuesday.”
