A woman "burst into tears" after clinching an "astonishing" £50k jackpot at a Dundee bingo hall.
On Thursday October 30, the lucky player was on her regular trip to the Mecca Bingo in the Douglasfield Eclipse Leisure Park when she won playing the National Bingo Game.
The jackpot is triggered when a player matches and dabs off all ten numbers on their bingo ticket within the first 16 numbers being called. However, the winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, walked away with the fabulous £50,000 after claiming the full house in just 13 numbers.
Mecca Bingo Dundee’s Lesley King said: “It was absolutely astonishing. To match all ten numbers in 16 calls is always a cause for celebration, but to do it in 13 is just amazing.
"To quote Kate Garraway, I was flabbergasted. It’s the biggest win on the lowest number of calls that I’ve ever come across.”
The winner, who had already had a smaller win earlier that afternoon, was so shocked that she "burst into tears".
“She rang her husband to tell him that she’d won but he didn’t believe her until her friend took the phone and said you need to come down to Mecca,” explained Lesley.
The win is the third time that a Mecca Dundee player has scooped a £50,000 National Game jackpot win in the last seven months, making Dundee one of Mecca’s luckiest clubs.
“I’m just delighted for the customer,” continued Lesley. “The magic of big wins is fantastic to see – the sheer joy when they realise it's not a dream, and they really have won £50,000! It’s a brilliant feeling.”
The National Bingo Game is played across the UK and offers players the chance to win Jackpot Prizes of up to £50,000 as well as a club prize on every game. The National Bingo Game is played twice a day, every day, 364 days a year at all Mecca Clubs.

NEW YORK (WABC) — Police are searching for the suspects accused of stealing nearly $7,000 worth of lottery tickets from stores across New York City.
The first robbery happened around 8:30 p.m. on December 26 at a business on Eighth Avenue in Manhattan.
According to the NYPD, two individuals entered the store, simulated a firearm and removed about $2,100 worth of lottery tickets before fleeing the scene on foot.
The second robbery happened at a store on Broadway in Astoria during the evening of January 8.
Police say the suspects entered the Queens business, displayed a firearm and removed about $4,800 worth of lottery tickets. The suspects managed to flee the scene on foot before entering a Broadway subway station.
Images and video released by the NYPD show the suspects jumping the subway turnstile with what appears to be a case full of scratch-offs and other lottery tickets.
No injuries were reported in either robbery.
The suspects are described to be men with a medium complexion.
Anyone with information about these robberies is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).

Leicestershire is set to gain a new Sports Direct store – and it is set to open just in time for the Christmas period.
The brand-new store will open in The Commons, in Market Harborough, and replace the town's previous Poundland unit. The sportswear shop will offer big brand names for customers to browse from.
According to the Harborough District Council (HDC), work to reconfigure the store is scheduled to begin today (Monday, November 10). Director of Harborough District Commercial Services Limited, Caroline Averill, said: "We are delighted to welcome Sports Direct to Market Harborough.
"The national sports retailer is known for offering a wide range of sportswear, footwear, and equipment from leading brands, and its arrival in Market Harborough is expected to enhance shopping options for residents and visitors alike."
HDC leader Phil Knowles welcomed the big brand's arrival in town. He said: "It is such fantastic news that Sports Direct will be coming to the Harborough District. Sports Direct will be joining many other big brands in Market Harborough, bringing further footfall and vibrancy to the town as well as employment opportunities for people in the town and surrounding areas.
"This is a great strategic piece of work by the Directors of Harborough District Commercial Servicers Limited to secure a further big name and national brand to Market Harborough. I know lots of families, especially those with sporty children, will be pleased to have this store in the town."
"It is in the centre of the town which will complement our brilliant diversity of shops and independent retailers. A lot of work has gone on behind the scenes to bring this to fruition and further work is now taking place to enable the store to open before Christmas. I am also delighted for the town’s businesses who will also benefit from increased footfall. Market Harborough continues to buck the national trend and is definitely the place to be for businesses and shoppers."
The new Sports Direct store is scheduled to open its doors on Friday, November 28, just in time for the Christmas period.
