The Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots both continue to climb as players in North Carolina can have fun this week trying their luck on jackpots totaling almost $1.4 billion.
Tonight’s Powerball drawing would give a winner the choice of accepting the $490 million jackpot as an annuity or $228.9 million in cash.
Tuesday’s choice gets much bigger with the $900 million Mega Millions jackpot ranking as the eighth largest in the history of the game. A winner would have the choice of taking home the $900 million jackpot as an annuity or $415.3 million in cash.
Even though both jackpots remain up for grabs, players are taking home other prizes playing Mega Millions and Powerball:
The odds of winning a Mega Millions jackpot are 1 in 290 million. The odds of winning a Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.
Players can buy Mega Millions or Powerball tickets at any lottery retail location or through Online Play on the lottery’s website, www.nclottery.com, or with the NC Lottery Official Mobile App.

Sports Direct will act as the title sponsor for this week’s HYROX event in Dublin.
The sporting goods retailer will host the final HYROX event of the year in the capital from Wednesday to Sunday (12-16 November).

This year Sports Direct has hosted various activations on and around HYROX race weekends to increase interest.
HYROX, Red Bull and Sports Direct will host a pre-race hype event and shakeout run this evening (10 November). The event will offer shoe trials from Puma, two workout sessions and a shakeout run led by Puma athlete Sean Noble.

The Springs Senior Citizens’ Club held its last Bingo morning for the year, with its usual caller, Elizabeth Smit, on November 4.
The event takes place once a month on Tuesdays. Members enjoy the activity while raising funds for the club.
Club manager Pauline Houghton says Bingo brings members together and helps them build friendships outside the club.
She adds that participation increased this year, with some joining from the Malan-Nel Senior Citizens’ Club, which closed earlier this year.
“We have introduced the Malan-Nel members to our club, and they were able to join our Bingo and the activities we have here, like the dance,” says Houghton.
She explains that the club plans to grow the Bingo events, which are also open to non-members.
The club will host its members-only Christmas party on December 6, its last social gathering before closing for the holidays and reopening on January 12.
The Bingo session lasts two hours, with various winners and a tea break in between. The next Bingo event is on February 3.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) — The Mega Millions jackpot reached $900 million for Tuesday’s drawing after no ticket matched all winning numbers on Friday, according to the South Carolina Education Lottery.
A ticket sold in Woodruff won $30,000 in Friday’s drawing, officials said. The winning ticket was purchased at The Party Shop located at 661 Laurens Road.
Friday’s winning numbers were 16, 21, 23, 48, and 70, with a Megaball of 5.
Lottery officials said more than 33,000 tickets purchased in the state won prizes ranging from $10 to $30,000. Players have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their winnings. Information on how to claim prizes is available here.
The odds of matching four of the first five numbers and the Megaball to win $30,000 are about 1 in 893,761.
Net proceeds from lottery sales support education funding, player prizes, retailer commissions, and related services, the lottery said.
