Mega Millions climbs to highest level since ticket price increase – Scripps News

The Mega Millions jackpot will reach its highest level since the multistate lottery increased ticket prices to $5 in April. The jackpot for Friday’s drawing is an estimated $843 million, lottery officials said.
The jackpot has grown steadily since a player in Virginia won $348 million on June 27. No ticket has matched all six winning numbers — 11, 14, 17, 50, 57 and Mega Ball 6 — since then. This year there have been four winning Mega Millions jackpots.
The last time the jackpot was larger was when a California woman won $1.269 billion. Friday’s $843 million prize ranks as the eighth-largest in the game’s history.
The winner may choose to receive $843 million in 29 annual payments through an annuity or take a one-time cash payout of $391.7 million. Most winners opt for the lump sum.
The odds of matching all six numbers are about 1 in 290 million. Matching only the five white balls — without the Mega Ball — wins at least $1 million. The odds of winning that prize are 1 in 12.6 million.
Mega Millions is played in 45 states, plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The only states that do not participate are Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada and Utah.

A huge gold reserve has reportedly been discovered in Tarbela, Pakistan, with an estimated total value of around USD 636 billion. The discovery was shared by Hanif Gohar, Chairman of Air Karachi and former Senior Vice President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), during a press briefing at the Karachi Press Club on Monday.

According to Gohar, divers collected multiple soil samples from inside the Tarbela Dam. These samples were then tested in laboratories, confirming traces of gold.

Gohar said that the gold found in Tarbela is large enough to cover Pakistan’s entire foreign debt. He added that the matter has already been brought to the attention of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and the Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

According to him, Pakistan has reached out to Australian and Canadian drilling companies to help with the extraction process. “Once the Prime Minister gives the official approval, work to extract the gold from Tarbela will begin,” Gohar stated.

Gohar further mentioned that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir have been formally informed about the discovery, and both responded positively.
He explained that divers had collected soil samples from inside the dam, which were then tested in laboratories to determine the gold content. Based on the analysis, the estimated value of the gold within the dam’s soil is believed to be around USD 636 billion, Gohar added.
Hanif Gohar said that the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) should ideally take charge of starting the gold extraction project. However, if it doesn’t, his company is ready to invest, carry out the extraction work, and hand over the gold to the government.
He added that his team is fully prepared and has already held discussions with dredging experts from the Netherlands as well as partners from Amsterdam and Canada. “If the government gives us the green signal, we are ready to begin work on this project immediately,” Gohar said.
Speaking about his airline, Air Karachi, Gohar announced that the airline will begin domestic operations on March 23, 2026. The company will initially operate with a fleet of three to five Airbus aircraft, and after one successful year of domestic service, it plans to launch international flights.
Gohar also revealed that construction has begun on Hyderabad’s first four-star hotel, which is being built on a five-acre plot.
He emphasized that Pakistan cannot reduce its budget deficit without developing its construction sector, noting that despite challenges and inefficiencies in Karachi, progress on several projects is still underway.

Friday’s EuroMillions lottery jackpot is set to hit £201 million after Tuesday’s top prize went unclaimed.
No one matched the jackpot earlier in the week, meaning the prize fund is rolled over. One UK player came close on Tuesday, winning £680,767 for matching five numbers and one Lucky Star.
The National Lottery EuroMillions winning numbers were 18, 28, 42, 46 and 48. The lucky stars were 03 and 09.
No tickets matched all five numbers to take home £1,000,000 in EuroMillions Hotpicks, which uses the same numbers as the EuroMillions draw.
The massive £201 million jackpot on Friday would make it amongst the largest in history. The record – a staggering £213 million – was won in June.
The winning ticket was won by an Irish family who bought it from a retailer in County Cork.
Recalling the moment he realised he won, the anonymous winner said: “I ran upstairs to my wife who had just gone to bed and woke her up. We both checked the numbers multiple times on the website. We sat at the edge of the bed, saying ‘oh my god’ over and over – I reckon we said it about 50 times. We were in total shock, complete disbelief.”
The jackpot is capped at this amount – around €250 million – meaning the man had won the top prize that is currently possible.
According to the National Lottery, there is a 1 in 139 million chance of winning the top prize, which increases as the jackpot grows larger and more people try their hand.
Lottery winners have 180 days from the day of the draw to come forward and claim their winnings.
Tuesday’s Lotto numbers were 01, 16, 27, 41, 50 and 55 and the bonus number was 54.
In Tuesday’s Lotto HotPicks, which uses the same numbers as the Lotto draw, no players matched all five numbers to win the £350,000 top prize.
One ticket holder won £13,000 after matching four of the five numbers.
The winning Thunderball numbers were 17, 02, 30, 36 and 05 and the Thunderball number was 08.
No ticket holders won £500,000 by matching all five numbers plus the Thunderball.
Two players matched all five regular numbers, which earned them £5,000 each.

The projection isn’t only about price action, though. It also leans on the idea that a friendlier macro backdrop and ETF access could finally give XRP what it has lacked for years, consistent institutional liquidity. If those pieces fall into place, ChatGPT’s $10 target by early 2026 doesn’t sound like hype, but rather a reflection of renewed confidence in one of crypto’s oldest large-cap assets.

For Cardano (ADA), ChatGPT’s short-term prediction of $3 by mid to late 2025 suggests a strong comeback that fits with the broader altcoin rotation narrative. That said, the next leg depends heavily on timing and macro flow. If institutional interest spreads beyond Bitcoin ETFs and rotates into major altcoins, ADA could be one of the first to benefit. ChatGPT’s call suggests a view that Cardano’s patient, research-driven model might finally pay off next year, a reward for holders who stayed through the slow build and a possible setup for new buyers aiming for a top-tier Layer-1 rebound.

Yellowwood Park residents enjoy bingo blitz – The Citizen

YELLOWWOOD Park Sports Club was filled with cheers, laughter and bingos as 26 enthusiastic residents gathered for the club’s regular bingo nights on November 5.

Contestants competed in several rounds trying to achieve the different types of bingo, including top row, second and third row, corner to corner and the popular full house. Participants were determined to walk away with one of the many prizes to be won. These included chocolates, coffee mugs with cappuccino and biscuits, car windscreen visors and notebook with a pen or pencil sets.
Erika Smith, organiser of the night, said many people joined – some were returning players and the rest were newcomers.
“Everyone is welcome to attend, even if you’re not a member of the club. It is all about community, fun and meeting new people. Bingo night gives our residents something to look forward to and brings us together,” she said.
