The Phildelphia Eagles acquired linebacker Jaelan Phillips from the Miami Dolphins this morning. Here are your views on the deal:
Always a fun exercise to see what you thought about the acquired player when he was coming out of college.
Here were our rankings with of 20 options from mid-1st to mid-2nd in the 2021 draft. I had Jaelean Phillips ranked No. 2:

Philadelphia Eagles: 20 draft options at pick No. 37, from WRs who slip to boom-or-bust DEs
The Miami Dolphins traded pass rusher Jaelan Phillips to the Philadelphia Eagles for a 2026 third-round pick, according to league sources.
The Eagles have 16 sacks this season, tied for the ninth-fewest in the league, ranking only ahead of the San Francisco 49ers (11 sacks) and Jacksonville Jaguars (10) among teams currently in the playoff field. And only about a quarter of that production has come from the Eagles’ edge rush. Philadelphia has only generated 4.5 sacks from edge rushers this season, with 1.5 of those coming from the now-retired Za’Darius Smith.
The Eagles were an average pass-rushing team in 2023 and 2024 after their extraordinary 70-sack output in 2022, so this issue has been building for a while. Phillips, a first-round pick in 2021, has plenty of physical ability when healthy. He tallied 22 sacks in his first 42 games, but he tore his Achilles in 2023 and his ACL in 2024. He has three sacks so far this season.
With exactly 24 hours until the NFL trade deadline, here are your league-wide views:
Watching Jaxson Dart rubbing two sticks together to try to make a spark with this supporting cast could lead to calls for a trade to upgrade his weapons. Let’s set aside the absurdity of a 2-7 team being buyers at Tuesday’s trade deadline under any circumstance and drill down on why it would be particularly egregious for Joe Schoen to deal away draft assets for an immediate upgrade: The reason the Giants are in this dire position is because of Schoen’s failures.
Yes, Malik Nabers was a hit with the No. 6 pick last year, and his torn ACL in Week 4 was a crushing blow. But the Giants still have Wan'Dale Robinson, who was a second-round pick in 2022, Darius Slayton, who Schoen signed to a three-year, $36 million contract in the offseason, and Jalin Hyatt, who Schoen traded up for in the third round of the 2023 draft.
Schoen made this bed, so he should have to lie in it. If he makes a desperate trade for a receiver this week, it would further illustrate the mistake of keeping this regime for a hot-seat season.
The reality is that having bad receivers as a rookie won’t do irreparable damage to Dart. So the Giants need to operate with the big picture in mind, which means holding onto valuable draft picks, which, as usual under this regime, are on pace to be near the top of each round.

As Giants bottom out with loss to 49ers, there’s little hope of turnaround with this regime

After firing general manager Chris Grier, the Dolphins appear to be waving the white flag on this season which means veterans like Bradley Chubb could be on the move.
Chubb was traded to Miami in 2022 with the idea of helping to transform a Dolphins defense that never took the next step. Three years later, the veteran pass rusher could be dealt again.
The 29-year-old has totaled 14 tackles and four sacks this season, appearing in all nine of Miami's games.
The NFL trade deadline is Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET, with teams racing to upgrade their roster for the stretch run and the postseason.
When making trades, however, teams must consider more than just how the acquisition fits into their roster. New players must also fit into the structure of the teams salary cap.
Unlike in the NBA, which puts different taxes on teams that go over, that is not possible in the NFL. The cap is the cap, and teams must remain compliant throughout the season. Because of this, teams that are tight up against the cap will be restricted in who they can target on the trade market. Teams with more cap space have more flexibility.
Breece Hall is yet another New York Jet that has garnered interest around the league but it remains unclear if the organization has plans to trade him as he seeks a new contract this offseason.
The 24-year-old is still one of the most talented backs in the league with explosive play and pass catching abilities. He's rushed for 581 yards on 117 carries this season, averaging 5.0 yards per attempt with two touchdowns. Hall has also caught 21 passes for 178 yards.
With the Jets sitting at 1-7, teams around the league have understandably checked in to gauge New York's willingness to move on from some of its best assets including defensive tackle Quinnen Williams. He's been a core piece for the Jets for several years hence why the team's asking price remains high.
Williams has recorded 17 tackles, one sack and three forced fumbles this season despite constantly seeing double teams.
PITTSBURGH — With just over 24 hours until the NFL trade deadline, the Steelers took one step to address their wide receiver room. Veteran receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling will be signed to Pittsburgh’s practice squad, according to a team source.
Valdes-Scantling, 31, has tallied 209 receptions for 3,606 yards and 20 touchdowns in his eight-year career. He also won two Super Bowls with the Chiefs. Beyond championship rings and stats, Valdes-Scantling also has plenty of familiarity with quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
From 2018 to 2021, Valdes-Scantling played four seasons alongside Rodgers in Green Bay. The receiver’s best season with the future Hall of Fame QB came in 2020, when Valdes-Scantling made 33 catches for 690 yards and six touchdowns. He also led the league with 20.9 yards per catch in 2020. Last week, after the Steelers worked out the veteran receiver, Rodgers spoke glowingly about his former teammate.

Per The Athletic's Dianna Russini, the Bengals asking price for defensive end Trey Hendrickson remains lofty.
He's been battling a hip injury of late but when healthy, the 30-year-old has proven to be one of the better pass rushers in the NFL. Through seven games, Hendrickson has totaled 11 tackles and four sacks after recording 17.5 sacks in both 2023 and 2024.
He has four seasons in his career with at least 13.5 sacks.
It's been several months since Jakobi Meyers requested a trade out of Las Vegas and if the Raiders plan on fulfilling his wishes, a deal could come at any minute.
The 28-year-old has appeared in seven games this season, catching 33 passes for 352 yards and he has not found the end zone yet.
Meyers has put together four consecutive seasons with at least 800 yards receiving, totaling 1,027 yards and 87 receptions last season in 15 games.
It's been an odd season for Brian Thomas Jr.
Expectations were high for the 23-year-old entering his second season but too many drops early in the season and inconsistent quarterback play have hampered his production.
According to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, Jacksonville has received calls on the young wideout who's totaled 30 catches for 420 yards and a touchdown.
It is also worth noting that Thomas suffered an ankle injury in the Jaguars win over the Raiders yesterday.
Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen said this regarding the trade deadline:
💬 “We're working through that. Like I said, (GM Chris Ballard) and his staff are doing their due diligence on that stuff, and we'll see how it plays out.”
The Colts have only made one in-season trade through the first eight years of GM Chris Ballard’s tenure and it was when running back Nyheim Hines requested a trade in 2022. Is this the year Ballard will finally be the aggressor? Indianapolis could still use help at defensive end, linebacker and cornerback.
The big fish is Cincinnati pass rusher Trey Hendrickson, whom The Athletic’s Diana Russini reports that the Bengals are still seeking a first-round pick for in any potential deal. However, there are two other Cincinnati players to keep an eye on: linebacker Logan Wilson and cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt. Both of whom have had their playing time reduced significantly this season. It’s also worth noting that Hendrickson, Wilson and Taylor-Britt previously played for first-year Colts DC Lou Anaurmo when Anaurmo held the same title with the Bengals.

With about 24 hours until the trade deadline, the Steelers are addressing their WR room by signing veteran Marquez Valdes-Scantling to the practice squad, source confirms.
MVS spent four seasons with Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay from 2018-2021.
With a torn ACL now confirmed for 49ers rookie DE Mykel Williams, the 49ers might not be done adding to their defensive line via trade, even after acquiring Keion White last week.

Why Iran 'cannot turn back time' on public hijab rule – DW

Iranian women increasingly resist the public headscarf rule. Despite ongoing repression, Iran’s regime seems powerless to stop social change.
“The state’s current policy on the issue of the hijab is not to follow strict rules,” Ali Motahari, a conservative Iranian politician, told journalists last week on the fringes of the International Book Fair in Tehran.
He added that the police should only intervene in the event of gross violations.
“You have to know that even at the time of the Shah, before the 1979 revolution, women were arrested if they did not dress decently in public,” he said. Wearing a hijab, or headscarf, remains mandatory in Iran.
However, even before the nationwide protests following the death of Jina Mahsa Amini in police custody in September 2022, Motahari was one of those conservative politicians who repeatedly called for a crackdown on women who dared to deviate even slightly from the strict dress code.
In 2014, he asked, “Why are women allowed to wear trousers under their coats?” He called on the authorities to take more rigorous action against the women concerned.
“What we have achieved in the last three years can no longer be taken away by the state,” a gender researcher and journalist from Tehran told DW. She asked DW not to publish her name as the authorities regularly reprimand her for her stance, and she even receives death threats from anonymous callers.
She is one of the women who not only refuse to wear a headscarf in public, but also encourages other women to decide for themselves whether they want to.
“They can no longer force us to follow their rules and automatically wear a headscarf every time we leave the house,” she says.
She also emphasizes that Iran has changed after the death of Jina Mahsa Amini. For example, on May 12, the coffin of Shiva Aristoui, an Iranian writer and poet, was carried by women without the mandatory hijab. Traditionally, carrying the coffin has long been a matter for men in accordance with religious and social norms. However, since the “Women, Life, Freedom” movement, more and more women attend funerals without the compulsory hijab and carry the coffins of their loved ones.
Yet, many women deliberately stay away from international media and avoid public attention to continue on their path without additional repression. Any exchange with international media could be considered “propaganda against the system,” “cooperation with a hostile government” or could be prosecuted as following an “order from abroad.”
Niloufar Hamedi, an award-winning journalist, is a recent example of the state’s crackdown. Her reporting on the death of Jina Mahsa Amini in 2022 brought her international fame.
Among other pieces, she published a photo of Amini’s grieving parents. It quickly went viral on social media and became a symbol of the nationwide protests, which became the largest protest movement in Iran since the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
Hamedi was arrested and charged with alleged “collaboration with an enemy government,” “propaganda against the system” among other charges. She was sentenced to a total of 13 years in prison. However, after 17 months, she was released on bail in January 2024. Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei then pardoned her and her colleague Elaheh Mohammadi in February 2025.
On May 11, 2,800 days after the report that changed the country, an article under her name appeared once more in the country’s major daily Persian newspaper Shargh. Niloofar Hamedi is allowed to work as a journalist in Iran again.
Does this indicate that the state has capitulated to women? “No,” Sedigheh Vasmaghi, women’s rights activist and theologian, told DW.
“The political system has not accepted the resistance the women have shown,” she said. “The state does not have the power to stop or even reverse this change either.”
Vasmaghi, who joined protesters against the compulsory headscarf rule, no longer wears a headscarf in public.
In April 2023, Vasmaghi wrote an open letter to Khamenei in which she criticized his decree on the hijab requirement and emphasized that the Quran does not stipulate such an obligation.
In March 2024, she was arrested for “propaganda against the system” and “public appearance without a Sharia-compliant hijab.” Due to her health problems, she was sent on parole.
Still, she could be arrested again at any time. But she has no fear of that. “The state in Iran is facing massive domestic and foreign policy problems and is currently not in a position to deal with women across the country, especially teenagers and young women, who no longer want to wear headscarves,” she told DW.
“However, any measure that appears to be effective will be reviewed and attempted to be enforced,” Vasmaghi continued, referring to the ongoing debate on the introduction of a controversial lawto monitor women in public in Iran. The law provides for a series of punitive measures for women who refuse to wear the required hijab in public.
“The political system can no longer turn back time,” Vasmaghi said.

A lucky winner has scooped a massive £25 million EuroMillions jackpot.
A single UK ticket-holder came forward following Friday's draw. It is the second time in recent weeks that a player has landed such a huge prize.
Friday's winner claimed £25,701,358. It came after another UK ticket-holder won £26 million in the draw on October 3.
That prize was also claimed. But there are two missing millionaires from recent Lotto draws.

I’m a lottery expert – my brilliant tips to bag £145m EuroMillions jackpot TONIGHT… and 4 ‘unlucky’ numbers to avoid – The Sun

More from The Sun
We explain an app trick to help find YOUR most profitable numbers
FROM buying a Ferrari to holidaying in the Seychelles, we’ve all got a plan for how to splash the cash if we win the EuroMillions.
Players have a chance of scooping a £145million jackpot this evening – and now, top lottery expert Simon Horne exclusively tells Sun readers how to boost your chances of bagging the whole lot.
Millions of us buy a Euromillions ticket each week with the hope of winning a huge windfall.
You pick five numbers from 1-50 and two lucky stars from 1-12, or you can choose a lucky dip – which is when the numbers are randomly selected for you.
The jackpot on offer this evening is £145million – which, although is a huge pot of money, isn’t as big as the record-breaking £208million prize that was won by a lucky Irish ticket holder in June.
It made the lucky winner instantly richer than the likes of Adele, Dua Lipa and Harry Kane.
From picking your lucky numbers to whether you should join a syndicate, there’s a heap of practical ways to boost your chances of getting richer overnight.
Of course, the only real way of increasing your chances of winning is to buy more tickets.
Make sure you gamble responsibly. Only gamble with money you can afford to lose, and set a money limit before playing.
If you need advice, visit gamcare.org.uk or GambleAware.org.
A lottery syndicate is when a group of people put money into a pot for lottery tickets.
There will be one person in charge – the syndicate manager – who will buy tickets and share out any winnings out among the group.
Playing as part of a group could be a good way of boosting your chances of winning, as Simon, from The National Lottery operator Allwyn UK, explains.
“If you join a syndicate of 10 people, then there’s 10 tickets and 10 chances of winning, so there’s clearly a greater chance of winning compared to if you just bought your own ticket,” he said.
The syndicate manager will need to register the group and list themselves as the person in charge with The National Lottery.
Make sure to write all the terms and conditions of the agreement down, and get each person to sign it, said Simon.
“If there’s any confusion or complications down the line, then you can refer back to the agreement and then everyone knows where they stand,” he said.
The big downside to consider being part of a syndicate is that you’ll need to equally split the pot between each person.
So, if you were part of a syndicate of four people, splitting the £145million jackpot four ways would leave you with over £36million each – although that’s still big winnings to walk away with.
You might think that picking up the most common numbers may mean you are more likely to win.
The number 20 has been drawn the most at 111 times, according to Lottery.co.uk, which tracks lottery results.
That’s followed by the number 21 and 23, which has been drawn 109 times, then 42 (107 times) then 29 (104 times).
The most common Lucky Stars are 3, which has been drawn 181 times and 2, which has been drawn 176 times.
But you’re better off picking whichever numbers you feel are best, said Simon.
That’s because, statistically, each number has an equal chance of being drawn.
Many people pick their birthday numbers because they think they are lucky.
“We all have lucky numbers – I know plenty of players who lean on lucky numbers, which could be phone numbers or numbers passed down from family members,” said Simon.
“Every set of numbers has the same chance of coming out.
“The best strategy to play is the one that you think will bring you luck.”
Not sure your lucky numbers are working for you?
You could keep an eye on how often your lucky numbers are being drawn, and if they’re not coming up as often as you would like, you can try a different tact.
The National Lottery app stores all your tickets from draws you have entered.
The app is free to download from either the App Store on iPhone, or the Google Play store on Android devices.
That means you can go back in and check your most profitable numbers.
YOU'VE got to be in it to win it.
Every time you buy a ticket the odds of winning increase.
But WARNING – only spend what you can afford. At the end of the day, it’s down to luck.
This is why some people prefer to be part of a syndicate, where multiple tickets are bought.
While this means you’ll have to share the pot, the odds become more favourable each ticket you buy.
You could make a spreadsheet of how often your lucky numbers are being drawn, and every three months, see whether it’s worth keeping them, or ditching them for alternatives.
According to Lottery.co.uk, the unluckiest Euromillions numbers are
You might want to avoid “unlucky” numbers – which are the ones drawn the least.
These are 22 (66 times), 40 (74 times) and 18 and 43 (78 times).
The National Lottery app is free to download from either the App Store or Google Play.
Timing matters when it comes to buying your ticket, said Simon.
If you leave it to the last minute, then there’s a risk that you run out of time to buy your ticket.
You need to buy your ticket before 7:30pm tonight – otherwise you’ll miss out.

“My main advice is not to leave it too late – don’t rush into the newsagents or load up your app at 7:25pm,” he said.
“You might not be able to upload money onto your online account, or buy your ticket, in time and you could miss the draw.”
