Powerball jackpot: How to get a free ticket for Wednesday’s $850M drawing – MassLive.com

Have you been eyeing that $850 million Powerball jackpot, but just can’t pull the trigger on buying a ticket?
If it’s the thought of spending your money on something not-guaranteed that’s holding you back, your worries can subside — there’s a way to get a ticket for free.
The Powerball jackpot has been rolling since July, and is valued at an estimated $850 million ahead of its drawing at 10:59 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 27, with a cash value of $397.4 million.
This jackpot is the fourth-largest jackpot in the history of the game, and the second-largest Powerball jackpot drawing this year. The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 24.9, and the odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.
For players in Massachusetts and select other states looking to get a free ticket ahead of the drawing on Wednesday night, a lottery ticket courier app launched in the state over the summer, called Jackpocket, is offering a promotion for a free Powerball ticket.
To get the ticket, players must download Jackpocket and ensure they’re in a state, like Massachusetts, that allows the app to operate, then sign up with a free account using their phone number and email address.
After verifying their age by scanning their driver’s license with their phone, players can deposit money into their Jackpocket account, which can be used to buy lottery drawing tickets.
The ordering experience is similar to in a store, with options for different ways to play drawing games through multipliers, Quic Pic tickets and choosing numbers individually still available.
By entering the code “FREEPB” at checkout, players can get their Powerball ticket for tonight’s record-breaking drawing for free. The code can only be used for a player’s first ticket purchase through the app and for a single $2 ticket.
Online lottery still isn’t legal in Massachusetts, though bills have been filed by both House and Senate lawmakers following online sports betting, which was launched in the state on March 10.
But the Jackpocket app said it isn’t that. Instead, it’s offering a lottery courier service to Bay Staters, similar to the likes of ordering food through “Uber Eats” or “DoorDash,” according to spokesperson Andrew Fries.
Once a ticket is ordered, a representative from Jackpocket purchases the player’s ticket, and it is scanned into the app for the player to view.
Jackpocket is not affiliated with the Massachusetts State Lottery; however, players can buy tickets for games other than Powerball like Mega Millions and Lucky for Life, and local Massachusetts lottery games such as Mass Cash.
If a player wins a prize valued at $600 or less, the money can be instantly transferred into a bank account of the player’s choosing; if the prize is more than $600, Jackpocket will transfer the winning ticket to them so they can claim their prize directly from the Massachusetts State Lottery.

Powerball jackpot Monday, Nov. 3, at $419 million as Mega Millions reaches $800 million – Treasure Coast News

Lottery fever is spiking.
Will a $2 ticket make you a multimillionaire? As they say in the lottery business, “it could happen to you.”
After no one matched all five numbers plus the Powerball in the Saturday, Nov. 1, Powerball drawing for $400 million, the jackpot jumped almost $20 million overnight for Monday, Nov. 3.
The current jackpot has since rolled over 22 times after resetting to $20 million on Sept. 8, when a pair of tickets from Fredericksburg, Texas, and St. Louis, Missouri, won the $1.787 billion Powerball drawing on Sept. 6.
And after a rollover on Oct. 31, or Halloween, Mega Millions rose to $800 million (from $754 million) for Tuesday, Nov. 4.
But before that, there’s $419 million up for grabs with Monday’s Powerball drawing. The one-time cash option would be $198 million, according to Powerball online. Check back after 11 p.m. for Monday’s winning Powerball numbers. We’ll see if there’s a winner or another rollover.
In case you’re wondering, Saturday, Nov. 1, winning Powerball numbers were 2-26-43-44-62 and the Powerball was 22. Power Play was 2x. Though those numbers produced another rollover, it wasn’t all bad news: There was one big winner is Saturday’s Powerball drawing. A ticket purchased in Pennsylvania matched 5 for a $1 million prize.
Tickets start at $2 a piece. Below is what to know about lottery odds, how long to claim the cash option if you bought a ticket in Florida, and what happens to unclaimed prize money, according to the Florida Lottery.
Good luck!
Powerball lottery drawings are at 11 p.m. ET every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, including holidays. Check back for Monday, Nov. 3, winning Powerball numbers. We’ll see if there’s a winner so soon after the historic $1.8 billion Powerball jackpot or another chance at more money for the grand prize.
The current Powerball streak started Monday, Sept. 8, after a ticket purchased in Fredericksburg, Texas, and St. Louis, Missouri, matched all five numbers plus the Powerball in the $1.787 billion drawing on Sept. 6, 2025.
Below is a recap of drawings and rollovers and how much the jackpot has increased over time.
Powerball drawings are held at 11 p.m. ET Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, including holidays. According to Powerball.com, players have a 1 in 292.2 million chance to match all six numbers whether the jackpot is $20 million or $2 billion. Prizes range from $2 to the grand prize jackpot, which varies.
The next Powerball drawing will be Wednesday, Nov. 5.
Prizes for Florida Lottery must be claimed within 180 days (six months) from the date of the drawing. To claim a single-payment cash option, a winner has within the first 60 days after the applicable draw date to claim it.
The Florida Lottery says its scratch-off tickets and Fast Play game prizes “must be claimed within 60 days of the official end-of-game date. Once the applicable time period has elapsed, the related Florida Lottery ticket will expire.”
According to Florida Lottery’s website, winners cannot remain anonymous: “Florida law mandates that the Florida Lottery provide records containing information such as the winner’s name, city of residence; game won, date won, and amount won to any third party who requests the information.”
However, the site states, the “names of lottery winners claiming prizes of $250,000 or greater will be temporarily exempt from public disclosure for 90 days from the date the prize is claimed, unless otherwise waived by the winner.”
Lottery experts and lawyers have said there are ways to remain anonymous if you win.
Here are the Top 10 Powerball jackpots in the history of the game as of Nov. 3, 2025:
