WICHITA, Kan. (KOLN) – A former Lincoln sports reporter has been accused of killing her mother, according to police and city officials. Sedgwick County officials said 47-year-old Angelynn Mock was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder in the stabbing of her 80-year-old mother, Anita Avers, early Friday morning. Records show Mock worked as a sports reporter at ABC 8 KLKN in Lincoln, Nebraska, from November 2002 to February 2004. Wichita police said officers were called at 7:52 a.m. to a report of a stabbing at a southeast Wichita home. They found a suspect outside the residence. Inside, officers found Avers unresponsive in her bed with multiple stab wounds. Sedgwick County EMS transported Avers to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Police said the suspect, later identified as Mock, was taken to a hospital for treatment, then booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on a first-degree murder charge. The investigation is ongoing.
