BRYANS ROAD, Md. – A regular Maryland Lottery player who focuses his attention on the multi-state games fell one number short in the Nov. 14 Mega Millions drawing. He may have missed the $980 million jackpot, but still walked away with a $30,000 third-tier prize.
“I’m just a lucky guy,” he said Nov. 26 when he claimed the prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore, his son at his side.
He said he tells his son to just “think about winning.” That’s what he did this time around. Then he noticed after the drawing there were three third-tier winners in Maryland.
“I told him, ‘I think one of them was me’,” he said. He was right. He matched four of the first five balls drawn plus the Mega Ball for a base prize of $10,000, but every Mega Millions ticket has a multiplier and in this case that multiplier was X3, bringing the prize to $30,000.
Acknowledging the win is a lot of money, but not really life changing, he will use his windfall for home repairs, to pay down his son’s student debt and to help pay for an already-planned vacation for his wife and son.
“I don’t usually spend a lot on myself,” he said.
He does plan to continue with his Lottery hobby, he said, adding, “I’m going to hit again. I’ll be back.”
His winning ticket was sold at Big B Liquors at 7099 Indian Head Highway in Bryans Road (Charles County).
In that same Nov. 14 Mega Millions drawing, the $980 million jackpot was hit on a ticket sold in Georgia, which reset the jackpot to $50 million.

Did anyone win Mega Millions last night, Oct. 7, 2025? Mega Millions winning numbers, results – Peoria Journal Star

The Mega Millions lottery jackpot continues to grow after no one matched all six numbers from Friday’s Mega Millions jackpot.
Here are the winning numbers for the Tuesday, Oct. 7, lottery drawing jackpot worth $547 million with a cash option of $251.7 million.
Grab your tickets and see if you’re the game’s newest millionaire.
Tuesday night’s winning numbers were 17, 26, 33, 45, 56, and the Mega Ball was 19.
No one matched all six numbers to win the Mega Millions jackpot.
A ticket sold in New Jersey matched all five numbers except for the Mega Ball worth $3 million. Two tickets purchased in California matched all five numbers except for the Mega Ball worth $4 million and $5 million, respectively.
You only need to match one number in Mega Millions to win a prize. However, that number must be the Mega Ball, worth either $10, $15, $20, $25 or $50.
Matching two numbers won’t win anything in Mega Millions unless one of the numbers is the Mega Ball. A ticket matching one of the five numbers and the Mega Ball is worth either $14, $21, $28, $35 or $70. Visit www.megamillions.com for a complete list of payout information.
The Mega Millions jackpot for Friday night’s drawing continues to grow to an estimated $575 million with a cash option of $264.6 million, according to megamillions.com.
Drawings are held twice a week at approximately 10 p.m. CT every Tuesday and Friday. You can watch drawings via YouTube.
A Mega Millions ticket costs $5 per play. The Multiplier is included in the price of a single $5 wager, according to megamillions.com.
Here’s how to play Mega Millions:
The winning numbers for Monday night’s drawing were 28, 29, 32, 66, 67, and the Powerball is 3. The Power Play was 2X.
The current Powerball jackpot continues to grow at an estimated $223 million with a cash option of $104.4 million, after no one matched all six numbers from Monday night’s drawing.

How to join Illinois Lottery's Powerball ticket grab in Springfield – The State Journal-Register

Illinois Lottery players have another chance to win as the Powerball jackpot hits $775 million for the Dec. 3 drawing. This is the second-largest Powerball prize of the year.
To celebrate the jackpot, the Illinois Lottery will host the Powerball Ticket Grab Challenge in Springfield from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 3 at Qik n EZ, 1101 Stevenson Drive, according to a community announcement.
Participants will have a few seconds inside the Ticket Grab Machine to collect as many tickets as possible. More than 800 free Powerball tickets will be available during the challenge.
For those unable to attend the event, Powerball tickets can be purchased at nearly 7,000 retailers across Illinois. The Dec. 3 drawing offers a chance to win a significant prize.
Each Illinois Lottery ticket contributes to local communities. For Powerball, about 40 cents of every dollar spent supports K-12 education and other initiatives. Since 1985, the Illinois Lottery has provided more than $25 billion to education funding in Illinois, according to the announcement.
Powerball tickets cost $2 each, and players can add the Power Play for $1 more, which gives them the opportunity to multiply non-jackpot prizes. As the jackpots for Powerball and Mega Millions grow, the Illinois Lottery encourages responsible play. Players must be 18 or older to participate, and game odds are available at IllinoisLottery.com, according to the announcement.
