Quads Lose to Straight Flush for Six-Figure Pot and No Bad Beat Jackpot Bailout – PokerNews

A regular on Hustler Casino Live lost a massive pot on Thursday with quads, but he wasn't bailed out from the crushing defeat by a bad beat jackpot.
Even if Hustler Casino in Los Angeles had a bad beat jackpot, it wouldn't apply to the livestream game. But Chris "Luda Chris" Chen, the player who lost his stack with quads, suffered a gross bad beat in what has been one of the most entertaining Ante Game's ever on HCL.
The weekly Ante Game, always on Thursday, is a no-limit hold'em game without blinds. Instead, every player at the table puts in a $50 ante before the cards are dealt, and then traditional preflop action commences.
In the bad beat jackpot-worthy hand, Luda Chris started the action off by raising to $400 from under the gun with 88. Francisco, two spots to his left, called with J10. Jasper, a young high roller who loves to gamble, raised to $2,600 with 62.
Luda Chris and Francisco each called before the flop came out 8Q6, at least something for everyone. Jasper, who flopped bottom pair, continued his aggression with a $4,000 wager. Bad news for him, though, as Luda Chris, holding middle set, raised it to $12,000.
Francisco also loved that flop as he picked up a straight flush draw. Thus, he wasn't about to be deterred by the raise, so he called. Jasper, nearly drawing dead, also called. The turn was the 9, which completed the straight flush, but all three players checked.
The river 8 was the money card as it created a quads versus straight flush situation between two of the largest stacks at the table. Luda Chris bet $18,000, leaving $59,125 behind. Francisco, who had a few thousand less, moved all in. Jasper, of course, folded, but Luda Chris excitedly put his chips into the pot immediately only to find out he'd lost to a brutal cooler.
The $193,700 pot was the largest in HCL's Ante Game history. Well, it was a record pot for about an hour or so when the poker gods felt bad for Luda's cooler and he shipped a $222,000 pot with top pair after "Jellyfish" moved all in on an open-ended straight draw that didn't come through on the river.
Losing with quads was crushing to Luda Chris, a longtime LA high-stakes grinder, but he recovered nicely and was up nearly $100,000 for the day at the time of publishing. No surprise, Francisco was the biggest winner in the game at the time, up around $205,000.
