ROCK HILL, S.C. — A Rock Hill woman scored a $248,000 win in the Palmetto Cash 5 jackpot while grocery shopping, attributing her win to her persistence.
“It feels like I have been playing since I was born,” the woman said in a release.
Her winning moment came at the Food Lion on Cross Point Drive in Rock Hill. Before leaving the store, she played her usual lottery numbers. All five matched the Palmetto Cash 5 numbers drawn.
“I was so glad and like ‘Wow,'” she said. “Is this real?”
The winner said she plans to pay off her debts and help some friends with the windfall.
“I’m not going to let the win go to my head,” she said.
Food Lion #1590 in Rock Hill received a commission of $2,480 for selling the winning ticket.
The odds of winning a Palmetto Cash 5 jackpot are 1 in 850,668, according to the South Carolina Education Lottery.
