JACKSON COUNTY, Mo. (KCTV) – The Missouri Lottery says a Powerball ticket purchased in Jackson County was exactly what an area woman needed.
The anonymous winner purchased the ticket on Oct. 15 at the QuikTrip on 6551 E. Front Street in Kansas City. It matched four out of five white balls (10, 13, 28, 34 and 47) and matched the Powerball (15).
Unaware she had won anything more than another free ticket, she put it aside for weeks. When she checked the ticket a second time, though, she realized it was worth a lot more.
“I checked the ticket on Monday and it said, ‘Winning ticket – see Lottery,’” she told lottery officials. “Then I looked it up on the website and said, ‘Oh my god, I won $50,000!’
Asked what she would do with her winnings, the woman had two ideas:
“We’re building a house so it’s perfect timing. I do a lot of canning and I think I’m going to buy myself a freeze dryer.”
